Nobody ois saying he is a s good as LT (best season ever by a RB) Emmitt (leading rusher of all time) and Priest had two or three excellent seasons and that´s about it, but that doesn´t mean you trade him along with the 22nd pick and a third rounder, no matter if they give you the 1st pick overall.

Another factor is what its going to cost to sign the overall #1. Jamarcus Russell got 6 yr/60M last year. So you can expect DMac's people are going to want somewhere in the 6yr/65M range. So if we want him we have to pay him Tony Romo money. You willing to put all your eggs in this guys basket, along with 10.5 M a year. I'm not. What happens if he gets hurt, who starts for us?

Based purely on the draft value chart, yes. Based on reality, not so much.

Reality?

The reality is that they would be assigning first round value to Barber but would end up paying him beyond that value on a new deal.

Barber is now the most over-rated player on the Cowboys. Geez guys he's good but he is not anywhere near the talent of an Emmitt Smith or Tony Dorsett. McFadden, while an unproven rookie is thought to be in that kind of class.

Last year, Jerry gave all the signs of us trading up.....

And we traded down.

I here ya.My son won't even listen to this when we were
at the gym. This kid worked his tail off and they want to trade
him?The one thing Barber has that the team needs to have more
of,is heart.

You are so right, he works hard don't say a word and gives you everything he got. I dont think Jerry is this crazy!

I just can't see this happening. I doubt this entirely.

And, like someone pointed out on this page, Jerry talked a big game about moving up last year and then traded down instead.

If DMac hadn't have gone to Arkansas, would we even be talking about this?

It's not going to happen, folks. I'll sig bet anyone on it.

I could care less if you build around a slower RB. There are plenty of faster backs to be had in the second round. No reason to give up Barber, and that much friggen money, for DMac.

Even if you have to play Barber a lot of money to stay there is no way he's getting the 30 million guaruntee that DMac would no doubt get for being the #1 pick in the draft.

Do you really think DMac's agent is going to take less money, on their deal, than the first pick got last year? It's not going to happen. And in today's NFL giving 30 million gaurunteed to a runningback is absolutely stupid.

Well I would never go as far as to say I'd be done, and quit being a fan, no matter how stupid things got...but I do agree this is one of the dumbest trade ideas I've ever seen.

giving up that 3rd is too much imho. i could live with barber and the 22nd but we better pick up a corner in free agency.

The 3rd rd pick is more valuable than last year's 3rd. The 3rd rd pick is viewed by many teams as a "poorman's" 1st rd pick, because the 1st day of the draft ends after round 2. Teams have all night to reconstruct their draft boards, for day 2, when they begin with round 3. So, many teams view that 3 as a 1st round, second-day, pick.

I'm not sure about it right now, but I keep thinking about "THE TRADE" and some how it scares me.

In 1977, theCowboys gave up the #14 overall and three second round picks for the #2 overall and the rights to draft Tony Dorsett.
