I've read he's a great Safety and all but I wasn't impressed with him last night. He just seemed average to me. What are your thoughts? and what Safety would you guys\gals like to see us draft?

Landry from LSU looks good IMO

Im sold.

I saw him get posterized one time by Lindale White when LW stiff armed him to the ground, who probably has about 30+ lbs on him.

He made some huge plays and if you go re-watch the game, which I have on DVD, he was lined up in the slot against receivers.

Go see those key tackles he made in the 4th Quarter....I know he made two of them that were key.

I say he had an exellent game probably had at least 7-10 Tackles.

Reminded me of a young Darren Woodson, even though woody played LB in college...im talking Pro-wise.

I saw him make a lot of tackles but maybe it was just me but most of them where after the player had picked up the first down and in the second half SC scored on its first 4 possessions and only two they didn't where the last two. I mean he made some plays but where was he the rest of the game.

So it is Huff's fault they scored on their first 4 Possessions?

After I re-watch the game sometime, I will point out some of the key plays he made. I know 2-3 of them came in the wanning minutes and it was on Lindale White.

And I beleive the TD by Garrett or Barrett or whatever the big Receiver for USC is was the only Receiving TD of the ball game.

I put money on the fact that Mike Huff increased his NFL stock by the way he played....

Generally, cover safteys make tackles on their side of the line. Also, Huff did receive the Def. Player of the Game. I think the kid has a bright future. Most here like him for his ability to cover and ball hawking nature. We already have 3 safteys that hit like mack trucks (Roy, Keith and Berauilt). We need a center fielder. In the worst way.

USC wasn't throwing the ball to the center of the field, so he didn't have many opportunities. USC threw a lot of sideline routes and quick slants. I wouldn't use last nights game as the only one to judge Huff and even at that he had a very good game.

Any chance we will be able to pick this guy up? He made so many key plays and I think he would fit into this defense so well. We need a cover safety bad.

He'd more or less complete our secondary.

I'm not sure its a great idea to use a 1st rounder on another piece for the secondary. We do need to upgrade FS, but there are ways other than another 1st round saftey.

He reminds me of Darren Woodson the way he covers WR in the slot

The plays a quality safety will make are the ones we don't always see on camera. When a passer opts to throw under or check down, the safety very well could have made a fine play without actually making the play. Ditto when a quarterback pulls the ball down as result of good coverage.

That said, Huff is typically a very sure tackler. Lendale White big boy'd him on the one run. BTW, White can be a beast like that. Still, I thought Huff was very good. Also, Michael Griffin was phenomenal last night, IMO.

And I am also a big LaRon Landry fan.

Yes, which is why a lot of scouts feel his is valuable with his ability to also play corner effectively. I love his range.

Huff actually looks exactly like what we need next Roy.
A slightly undersized FS who can hit and cover well with ballhawking ability.
Too bad he'll be gone when we pick.

And ends us up likely right back where we are this year, with a pretty effective defense and holes ya can drive a mack truck through on offense.

He's projected around the 15-20 pick range but most think Atlanta will take him but Landry should still be on board and Dallas really needs another Landry......

I think we probably take the top OT left on the board when we pick, and there should be a pretty decent one waiting around.

I am hoping there are better options on the board when we draft.

There should be and I also think Huff is a good option, but Dallas needs more help on offense than defense.
