mickey; i would have got up and walked off way reporters were asking wade about december, here was funny thing, he sat there, spared with them, he then walks off and goes and stands in walkway, and waits to talk to reporters, so this time wade walked down the hallway, stood there a few minutes and then he said oh, ok now what you want to ask

mickey says i wouldnt play those songs you have for him tomorrow morning, on meryl haggard if we make it through december, mickey laughs at the song;

if eagles lose to giants they go to 8-4;

mickey says why dont they write about why we cant win in september, etc

talked about norv turner, on why would norv be mad since he didnt get head coaching job here, norv left here on his own to go coach at washington and played us twice a yr, so after a while you blow it off on revenge etc, no big deal

oh, at some pointon chargers winning in december sometimes you will lose a game, you know san diego is going to score points, do you make a play, not allow a team to return a punt for a td or allow a 260 pound back run for a td

a fan asks why is mickey such a homer, mickey says why are u such a critic, and why is that such a homer, when they are wrong, no one goes back and critizes someone for being wrong; i can speak my mind as well as anyone, i dont get paid by cowboys

uh, i heard you guys ask about romo on michael irvin; i think he was being a smart alec to confuse the interview, mickey says i would have said i dont know michael you have been there 3 times why dont you tell me, its kinda a set up question michael asked romo in interview;

im not sure what micheal irvin was looking for in the question interview to romo

i dont think there is any right answer because you either get in trouble iwth your coaches, or your teammates etc, with whatever question you ask and you answer, so romo has learned to be down the middle in the answer then everyone spins it, so now he doesnt give anyone a chance to spin anything

thats it

I don't get it. What point was Mickey trying to make?

Really?

so what about this?
Mickey Spagnola, a former sportswriter for the now-defunct Dallas Times Herald, serves as the feature writer for DallasCowboys.com, tracking the daily activities of the Dallas Cowboys. Mickey writes articles and blogs for the site but also hosts "Talkin' Cowboys", one of two daily radio shows broadcast exclusively on DallasCowboys.com. However, during the offseason, "Talkin' Cowboys" usually airs only once a week.

Spagnola used to make several daily appearances (one on each weekday show), known as "The Ranch Report", on Dallas radio station KTCK 1310 AM, "The Ticket". This report provided listeners with general information on the Cowboys' daily activities. He now reports news and provides insight on a similar show known as "The Valley Ranch Report" for Dallas radio station KRLD-FM 105.3 "The Fan".

Spagnola hails from Chicago, Illinois, and is a graduate of the University of Missouri.

Why would anyone want to read about a coach who wins in September?

What the ____ was Mickey thinking when he made that moronic statement.

What an idiot.

Mickey Spagnola is a company man no matter what he says. He probably buys his groceries at the company store as soon as he gets off work. He has ZERO credibility. When you hear him, you hear Jerry.

Hehe, got me on that one. Ok, so he has SOME opinions that are his own. :)

But seriously, when it comes to the overall picture at Valley Ranch, tell me the last time he lit into Jerry Jones for something? Remember, not a single playoff win since 1996 so SURELY there would be ONE TIME in 13 years (or however long he has been working in his current role) for him to be pretty critical of Jerry.

I just never read it.

If you run to Google and type in "conflict of interest," Spags will surely show up. For those just joining us, Mickey is a paid propagandist whose paychecks are signed by Jerry Jones. In short, he's a mouthpiece for Valley Ranch, and his job is to run interference for Wade and company. As such, his journalistic peers rightly view him with contempt. For him to look down on or chastise real journalists, who are beholden to no one, is the joke to end all jokes. Baghdad Bob meets Metroplex Mickey.

What real journalists are you talking about? Who are the real journalists that cover the Cowboys? I think that Mickey is more real than 90% of those jokers.

If you lack credibility as a journalist, then you're worthless in your profession.

How do you go about losing credibility? Well, getting paid by the team you report on comes to mind.

Really? Every journalist that reports on the team that pays them automatically has zero credibility? That is ridiculous. I've read many of Mickey's articles and I've heard many of his reports over the years and I don't believe that he is afraid to be critical of this team. In fact, he often criticizes them. I don't think he's afraid of Jerry because Jerry isn't afraid of criticism. There was no one in the Dallas media more critical of T.O. when he was here. Just because he doesn't totally buy into this December hysteria doesn't mean he's worthless in his profession.

When you can produce his first article, since he has been IN HIS PRESENT POSITION where he has been SHARPLY critical of Jerry, without a bunch of niceties thrown in so that even the criticisms seemed to be compliments (i.e., Jerry's main problem is that he wants to win so bad), I'll believe you.

Can you show me one like that? Even one?

For the first time in a long time I listened to cupcake's wade presser yesterday. One of those " real " journalists asked him this questions after he said something about the team being winners:

" How do you know you have winners ? What have they won ? What has this bunch won ? "

At first, it ticked me off because cupcake came back with a softball answer about being 8-4 which means they've won 8 games.. blah,blah, blah.. when he should have responded with: " what do you know about football ? "

Then it came to me and I wished I was sitting in cup cake's chair. I would have responded with this:

"Let me ask you something, do you consider the Saints winners ? Yes ? Why ? What has that team won ? Your turn".

Then I would have sat back and watch one of those " real " journalists squirm on that chair while looking like a *******...

I don't understand all the venom for Spagnola. The eagles have the same thing in Dave Spadaro. I'm sure most teams have that guy.

They are a mouth piece for the team. They get out the team's view of things. Of course they will be critical of the media when it's critical of the team.

It's what these guys are paid to do. Where's the problem?

No problem, assuming fans are aware that he's not a real journalist but instead a paid PR flack advancing an agenda. Nor does he have any standing to pass judgment on real journalists. That'd be like Ted Baxter panning Edward R. Murrow.

He said if the Eagles lose to the Gints which means the Gints will go 8-4.
