will jerry jones sit there for 50 picks without doing anythign mickey;
mickey replied about jerry jones trading more than any other team; there was an article written up about the cowboys being the team wiht the most trade in nfl history i think,

talked about cutting to cowboys war room just because its the cowboys and with 11 draft picks, then you might see the cowboys doing some trading, dont think they will use all 11 picks, because of uncapped year, if he doesnt make the team the draft pick all of it counts against your cap this year;

youve got to play your odds, 2 or 3 7th round picks, one might make the team, but if you pay the 7th round pick one of them 400,000 signing bonus or whatever and he doesnt make hte team, that whole salary bonus etc counts against the cap;

maybe use 4th or 5th or 7th to use to move up in the draft
i say dont use the 3rd or 4th or 5th, but yes use the 6th and 7th draft picks;

smoaky asked mickey if their draft board has just 18 players on their board as qualified number one picks;

tom ciwkowski queston to mickey; asked if this draft is jerry proof on the board that jerry cant do something silly paraphrasing here

mickey said that jerry and stephen have a grasp of the players on the board so when they are on the clock, they dont have to ask questions about the players

The draft picks/cap reasoning is ridiculous. The picks Dallas has will have so little impact on the cap it isn't even worth considering.

Exactly.

And I don't think a 7th rounder is getting a $400,000 signing bonus, or whatever, either!

I know what kind of joke is that? 7th round bonuses aren't that high.

2nd part of mickey with smoaky; there should be a podcast later, its generally alot better than my recap, but thought id recap if some of you cant listen to the podcast later;

again, mickey hasnt said nothing cowboys breaking news yet;

smoaky bringing up the offensiive linemen issue with mickey; is this line with the girth as big as with cowboys in 90's; i dont know if they have changed all that much from a big nasty offensive linemen, what they have to do is be big and nasty when they run the football when it matters;

mickey thinks their very inconsistent running the football, 30 per cent carries were for no more than 1 yard; thats not good

fan question to mickey; dallas going after chad johnson; think it will be out of the question; and you spent your draft picks and budget on wr position

jerry jones is such a businessman, do they break it down; smoaky said he is like that hair on your eyebrow, wild etc, mickey tells smoaky now i dont; now

marvin lewin told news today that chad johnson wont get traded

ktbb moving to april 27th 92.1 fm from 600 am, should be better reception;

mickey thinks the cowboys wont pick till 8ish saturday night;

smoaky tells mickey that listen to him, jerry jones will try to move up some, and then tr ade up again, that jerry cant help himself, but mickey and david both agree if a really good player is there in high 40's say, go get him;

thats it;

I thought it was more like a Target gift card and a coupon book.

Tashard Choice received a $440K signing bonus last year as our fourth round selection

Orlando Scandrick received a $185K signing bonus last year as our fifth round selection.

I think the signing bonus for any 5th, 6th or 7th round player will be less than the base salary for his rookie season.

It's a non-issue.

I looked at some random 7th round picks from last year and they ranged from top to bottom between 60,000+ to 26,000 for the last pick.

However, with the team as it is, and the number of picks we have, how can you people look at that and just slough off the consequences?

So let's say of your last picks don't make the team after signing them. A real possibility.

And each gets paid a bonus and they average out to be 90K each. You just sunk 360K in bonuses that you eat immediately.

Now toss in a 4th that doesn't make it and that means you now have over 700K in cap gone for guys that didn't make the team.

So what if doesn't count?

Don't be so sure. Mistakes this year are unlike any others.

I doubt any of us expect to keep all of our current selections.

Jerry Jones will do his usual bit of moving up, down and even prospecting for 2010 selections.

But in the end, if we end up slicing a few late rounders, it's just business as usual. I expect we'll still be signing a pretty good contingent of undrafted players as we do every year, a lot of the coveted ones actually get higher bonuses than seventh rounders.

But we can't run camp without enough bodies.

We'll end up cutting something like 27 players when we finalize our initial 53 man roster.

We gave Rocky Boiman a million dollar signing bonus and he didn't even make the team.

Like the others said, this isn't a big deal. In fact, everyone is saying we won't want those picks that might not make it? Well, nobody else will want them either. And Jerry might even be more willing to take on those possible hits than a team that's tight against the cap. So we might be able to trade back and pick up extra picks cheaper than usual this year.
