Explaining about Kellen Moore.

Bi-m..something fracture, where the 2 bones that go from the ankle into the leg. Both are broken, and surgery required. Out at least 3 months, so probably IR.

An OL was pushed back during blitz drills at the end of practice, one of the FA OL. Jarred Smith, and rolled up on Moore's ankle.

Elliot, hamstring happend toward the end of practice also, day off today, probably light work on Thursday, then see how he feels.

He listed possible QB's to bring in, one of them TJ Yates. Clauseen,, he named about 6. So no word yet on any QB's.

Explained why Ro MClain being kept on roster for now.
He gets a $750,000 signing bonus. That is not recoverable if a player is traded, released, or even dies. Such as Oakland had a player a few years back or so, signed and then was killed in a car accident, so they did not recover than bonus.

So by keeping ro, they can recover 10/17ths of that and probably even 12/17, since it is recovered on a weekly basis.
Then with 4 games left, just cut him then.
Also he had incentives from last year, so he played in 11 games, and had $1 million in incentives, so you also recoup that money for as long as he is out, that is 11/7ths of that $1 million.

Jaylon Smith, is reaction to Gil Brandt saying look for him to play by the end of the season. Mickey says, not so fast, the nerve still needs to fire to get the feeling back in the foot. All looks great, but if you can't feel your foot hit the ground, then you can;t play. Also all the running is straight or to the side, he has not been running and cutting. He still has the brace on the foot.

Yeah, I think Mickey has the wrong idea about not feeling his foot. His issue is dorsiflexion which involves the ankle to toes hinge type swing up. That's why he needs the brace to pick the foot up with the rest of the leg motion.

Ive always wondered about this. IF his nerve were to just fire tomorrow, would that make him good to go for the season? I know its a long shot, but at the end of the day, with all the bad we have been hearing, arent we due for some good news?

I think he knows, but in the limited time, that's what he said, he was a last 30 second type thing.

That's the speculation. That if the nerve fires soon and he has full use of the foot that if the knee is right then he could play. The knee may end up being the delay.

Same here, but they probably have a plan to rehab when it does fire. I don't think he will be thrown in at full speed.

We may be due for some good news but, knowing our team, we hardly ever get any. Even if we did, some on this board would
pooh-pooh it!

All those calling for the Cowboys to cut McClain really need to understand there is a reason he is still a Cowboy. Thanks for posting this jazz.

But I thought if a guy is on the roster in any way, his season salary is guaranteed (minus the suspension). How can he be cut after 10 games without owing him the rest of the season?

But he is not part of the 1st game roster. They need to be on the 53 game one.
He will be on the reserve / suspended list.

I don't understand why they would be able to recoup money pertaining to last season? He did his job last season.

If the nerve fires sure. But let's remember the knee was blown out in just January. It won't be a full year until January. Oscan blew his out in TC and is back now.

Right, but Jaylon is out using the cords already and is doing lateral work. So he appears to be way ahead of schedule. How much I have no idea.

A few more things from Norm Hitzges.
Ed Werder tweeted, Moore out 3 to 4 months.
Even if it was 8 to 12 weeks, norm was saying you just don't throw a QB back out there. And you don't have a QB as a fill in for 8 to 12 weeks.
So he is basically done for the year.

QB's to look at. This offense is not a QB run offense, it is a QB mobile type offense. Foles is too slow for that. But Josh McCown could come in and play.. Donovon likes Charlie Whitehurst.
Mike Glennon was mentioned also.

Said McClain facing a 1 year suspension if he does not take the Medical Director advise and goes get help NOW. But if he is suspended a year, his career is over. So the teams view is to recoup a year of his deferred money from his incentives and signing bonus. As I explained in an earlier post.

Also at 11:10, Anthony Hitchens will be on with Norm on The Ticket, 1310 AM.
I will try to recap if I can.

It was incentives earned that goes toward next years cap, like a roster bonus. They are deferred payments to this years cap.

I don't think Spagnola is correct on this.

The signing bonus is paid out as a lump sum, especially in this case as it was for a 1 year deal. What is recovered on a game by game basis are his game checks, or his base salary. The signing bonus would have to be recovered in full - not on a prorated basis.

And, being that the money would otherwise be tied up by keeping him on the team, they don't get the salary cap benefit of recovering his base salary 100% at this time by releasing him - they are still on the hook for it until games are played.

I believe he's talking about the salary cap, they can get that roster bonus money back on the cap as well. Jerry even alluded to that fact.

Whoa, this news is a game-changer! Out for likely 3 months means IR and the possibility to bring in an outside QB for help.

Of course, that move will be contingent upon the FO and staff determining the need but it appears Moore is out for the year.
