They gave the Cowboys their props and talked about the usual, how Tony Romo gave the team new life. The topic was about quarterbacks, particularly QBs of the future, and then after Romo they talked about Eli Manning and how Giants fans are calling for him to be benched. Mike Greenberg said it wouldn't make sense to bench Eli right now, and said the same thing about Ben Roethlisberger. Then he mentioned that if you draft a quarterback with your first pick and it doesn't work out, that it would set the team back 5 years. After that he and Mike Golic talked about how if Eli went down the Giants would go down with him, and they would be bad for a long time.

I have an idea how these situations might affect the team, but I can't quite put it into words. If anybody could help me out I would appreciate it.

Not that they would ever bench Eli, but who's their backup now? Is it Lorenzen?

That would be hilarious...

Mike & Mike also had Boomer Esiason on the show and he said that that the difference between Romo playing well and Eli playing poorly was how they trsuted their receivers. Essiason said that by watching Romo it was obvious to him that Romo trusts all of his receivers, and while he likes to go deep he's willing to throw the intermediate and short route. He said that Eli Manning's problem is that the only receiver he trusted was Toomer, and he is gone for the season. Boomer thinks that Eli has no rapport with Shockey or Burres and that's why they cannot get in synk.

Eli does not have any confidence,he looks
completely without any kind of rhythm, and
he does not take command or show he has
what it takes to be a leader. He looks like his
head lights are in the trees. That doesn't mean
he can't get the job done,we have to win today
and beat them (Giants) so bad that won't know what just
hit them.

I'd add that Romo also appears to be significantly more accurate and may read defenses better as well . . .

That's what's so significant to me. He is just so fast at everything he does during the process of getting the ball out. He's fast taking the snap, dropping back, scanning the field, and releasing the ball. If you add all those up, that's a lot of time that he saves over a lot of QBs in this league.

And if you add decent arm strength and good accuracy to that, you have a good QB. :D

Nah. Hilarious as in he's an offensive lineman playing QB.

NFL.com has him listed at 285lbs!!!

Granted he showed some mobility at Kentucky and his size made him tough to bring down, but I'm not sure if he was ever this heavy at Kentucky.

That is not only a great addition but VERY true. That is part of the "IT" factor that so many talk about

I think your "poetic formatting" setting is on. You might want to check that.

Greenberg made a great point, about Eli. The kid looks beat. Plain and simple, he looks lost, frustrated, he just doesn't look in controll.
