2005, Cowher an old guard finally getitng his due vs. Holmgren an old guard returning to the dance.

I like Mike Holmgren. Always have. But if Wade is not the HC in 2009 then I would rather hire Garrett or other young blood and move forward rather than trying to recapture.

I think having him around and going to the west coast Offense would work wonders for us.Now we obviously couldnt get him as OC.I like Wade on defense.But is it possible to have both of these guys and one as a coordinator?

Wade isnt going to go from HC here to DC here in consecutive years.

Holmgren would be good for Romo, but I'm not sure he'd be good for the rest of the team in general. Not sure any retread is the way to go.

Jimmy Johnson's the best coach Jerry has ever hired and while here, Jimmy was the best coach in the league. We need to find the next Jimmy Johnson, not another retread.

Washington sought young blood instead of a retread. In the playoff hunt until the last few weeks, may be back in with some luck.

In fairness to those coaches, they really didn't have a lot of say (Gailey less than Campo) in their staffs or the direction of the team.

Do you think any coach that would come in here as the 'new head coach' with Wade as the D Cor is worth a lick.

And why would any of the players respect Wade for taking a demotion?

Wade dropping down to the D Cor is the silliest thing I have ever heard of.

I have to agree with this.

It would be weird and some players may still have more loyalty to Wade Phillips than the new head coach.

Exactly.

To me the Steelers do it the right way, and have done so for quite some time.

Hire a young, successful assistant, and then get out his way for the next ten years.

Worked with Noll, Cowher and now, Tomlin.

If Wade goes, I pray that Jerry stays away from the retreads and gets a young coach that will be around for at least the next decade.

If he hires Holmgren, then we'll all be back here in the next 2-3 years playing this same game again.
