I think the 53 is going to be tough. I haven't seen anything from him a corner or on ST. (Haven't really been looking on ST. I realize we have a lot of ST and DB injuries. I just don't like the guy. (Gut feeling only)

Convince me we can't just keep...

Safety:
Ken Hamlin
Sensabaugh
Watkins
Mike Hamlin (Inactive for 6 Weeks)
Smith (Maybe he and Mickens are in a fight for a spot)

CB:
Newman
Jenkins
Scandrick
Ball (swing safety)

This is always remembering if things get desperate at DB we can grab someone off the street later.

Or convince me you'd rather have Mickens than Deangelo Smith, Montre Holland, McQ or Stanback. I would say Hodge but he's gonna get waived now that Johnson is here.

I can't convince you because I'm convinced he's headed for the P.S. at best. Sad too, because I thought he was a great pick that late and could help us out a lot in a couple of years. Hopefully he passes waivers.

Patrick Watkins made the team previously....?

I also don't think Stanbach has any shot of making the final 53. This team wont carry more than 5 WR's on the 53 man roster and Ogletree will be the 5th. This team has enough "potential" at wide receiver without needing Stanbach. With a defensive minded head coach I think it is much more feasible we go into the season with added depth at defensive back. Especially considering how many of our DB's seem to carry lingering injuries.

Based on his play it does not look good for him.

Hodge= IR
Stanback = 2 years and nothing, that experiment is a failure
MCQuisten = 3 years, has shown nothing
Holland = looked solid last year before getting hurt, has actually played in this league - he stays on the final 53

Mickens = is a rookie, if his knee is not 100% than it's hard to tell if he will be a player, I would take a chance over someone that's been here for a couple of years and shown nothing

I thought Mickens has played well the last two weeks. But they still might try to slip him on the practice squad.

Mickens has as much chance clearing waivers as McGee does.

Yeah, everyone wants a rookie CB with a sore knee who has been getting toasted all summer.

He will make it thru waivers and be on the PS.

7th round.

:lmao: A fourth round QB vs. a 7th round CB... OMG. Insane. I was looking for reasons to keep him not reasons to spit my drink on the screen.

Gotta admit I never saw what made everyone think he was a future first rounder.

Maybe he shows something Friday, though. I'd think you'd want to keep five corners as much nickel as you have to play these days.

Interesting, when we got Micken's everyone claimed "this kid was first day talent who slipped because of injuries." Now all of a sudden the kid has no value.

He will not clear waivers, I am willing to put money where my mouth is.

He has as much raw talent and ability as McGee does and showed more potential in college than McGee ever whiffed.

Just because we might not have room for another project at CB, doesnt mean no other team does.

He MIGHT make the opening day 53, but I still think he's cut the day after and moved to the PS. I wont be surprised if they sign a veteran DB after week one, maybe two of them.

You can't cut this guy he has elite speed and led cincy in interceptions last year. Injuries is his only downfall, give the kid a year. He's better than Ball will ever be.

you can't go into the season with just four corners, and Ball has a concussion, Hamlin is gon for atleast six weeks. Mickens and Smith both make the 53 man roster...

I remember the same things said about Ball last year as I hear about Mickens. His knee is fine, he needs reps, and lots of them. Don't be so quick to cut a draft pick after a month of training camp.
