Just because you are a great Defensive Coordinator, doesn't mean you will be a great Head coach.

His SF teams we're horrible, but the guy can coach defense.

Sounds familer doesn't it?

It's over for Wade. As a very wise coach once said, "Know your role".

There is nothing wrong with just being a great Defensive Coordinator.

Dick Lebeau, and the late great Jim Johnson knew that.

Now it's time for Wade and Jerry to come to the realization.

Wade Phillips is not a great leader of men... The Mike Tomlins of the world is what this team needs.

Why is this such a revelation for people here this was not a 2nd chance for Wade as a HC this was his 3rd chance (not counting interim HC midseason)

He is playing out just like his last two stops as a HC he is mediocre and does not win playoff games

That's my point.....you've given it your all now go back to doing what you do best! There is nothing wrong with that.

Have you ever heard Lebeau gripe about not getting the chance to be a HC?

This team has more issues then Wade as HC....

You can practice hard all week......have a solid gameplan....

but when the players go on the field .....they have to execute....

Wr's have to beat their man......OL has to protect.....QB has to hit that pass.....

Im sorry but when you see your QB......calling audibles...or whatever he is doing behind the line of scrimmage....and there is confusion.....and players fail to execute their assignments.....

its on the players....

Should Wade bench someone? Who really? RW? Romo? any of the OL? Newman? Ware?

I mean mangement did get rid of the circus.....tried to make the offense more balanced....etc....

Its still early......but this team needs some leaders....some passion.....they need to play desperate.......lets see.....how many players show some fire during the games....like it means something to them? Brookings? Barber?

who else?

yet Keith Brooking is talking about how we practice which once again not hard and it shows up on game day once again.

That quote tells you it is all on the head Coach and how he approaches the game

I understand what Brookings said......but maybe he is talking about the players and having them be more accountable. Brookings loves Wade.

Coaches can yell....throw fits....fine players....make them run....etc....but at some point.....you need leaders....you need players to be accountable and take the bull by the horns.

Haley told Aikman that if he has any issues in the huddle ....to let him know....he will set them straight......Irvin was a passionate practice player like Aikman....they demanded perfection.

I just dont see that from our key players. I love Ware but he isnt a leader....Romo just smirks after a bad play and carries on.....

Maybe we do need a task master coach here......I dont know.....we had Big Bill here and we were still sloppy

Maybe its a combination of both?

It all starts with the Headcoach period end of story; we had Irvin and the team still erode under Barry because the Headcoach was way to soft on his players. So yes you need player leaders but you also need a HC as well that is a great leader

I think the team eroded mainly because of injuries and the salary cap and bad drafting.....not because Barry was a soft coach. imho

Im not defending Wade.....he has his faults....but we need some leaders here....Coaches cant make a player a leader....it comes within....

We need our star players to step up......we need players here who are getting paid like star players to play like they should.

Making bone headed mistakes......not knowing your opponent......knowing your keys....running the right routes....making better decisions.....etc is on the players. You can have all the film study you want.....but its up to the players to study it.....ececute it....

But for some reason we keep on shooting ourselves in the foot.

It takes a combination of players and great Headcoach we see it ll the time.

Guys who are well regarded as leaders tend to have a lot of success and have great player leaders
