Was not former Cowboy recvr. Mike Sherrard injured on a similar type play as the Pass interference call on Miles Austin...........????

i.e. getting the legs fipped into each other while at full speed...........

all i know he broke his leg big time, never fully recovered.............had potential at the time to be a solid receiver, was a big loss

was before the You tube era etc..........gonna have to jog some memory banks on this one.........

anyone.............

Dr. Z blurb about the second PI call on Austin
Quote:
Contact had been made, Austin went down, and I've seen inadvertent bumping called in a situation such as that, you know, "they got their legs tangled," which resulted in no flag. Not this time. Williams, in a trail position, nipped one of Austin's legs with his own, from behind. It wasn't a tangle, it was a trip, and although I was in sympathy with Green Bay's effort to get back in the contest, I felt it was the right call.

Sherrard's injury was not during a game. It was during practice, if I remember correctly. Then he re-injured it later while jogging on the beach.

Yeah, but he also broke it another time running on the beach.:

The guy had amazing speed, but his lower legs were like toothpicks.

They were having trouble keeping up with Austin so they tripped him and made it look accidental. Good Call.

Yup, u guys are correct........I remember now the explanation......he basically did to himself what packer defender tried to do to Austin......

Sherrads trail running leg crossed over onto his plant leg, at full speed, and shattered it...........

was a very freak injury.........

but actually similar in nature

Hmm, I thought the PI call on the trip would be as much for him putting his hand on Miles' shoulder and giving it a little tug. Was there an explanation durng the game I could not hear anything

Training camp in 1987. Also there was no one around him. He was running and hit one leg with the other breaking it. He broke it a 3rd time in 1990.

We had recently cut Tony Hill and I was feeling pretty good about the WR situation with Sherrard. Then, I was having lunch with a Commanders fan in a local mall and heard over the radio about the Sherrard injury. What a bummer.

Yes it was a similar play on which Mike got injuried. I still remember that play. Mike had a promising career with the Cowboys. O well...

Yep... that poor guy was brittle...

Bill Parcells could have broken his ankle by staring at it...
