I see it as Dallas and GB 1-2, Seattle owns a head to head tie breaker vs Tampa for the #3 seed and has a pretty easy schedule...Tampa will be #4...NYG #5...have no idea who 6 will be, but they are gonna lose at Seattle if Seattle is relatively healthy

that'd put Seattle at Green Bay (could be Holmgren's last game) and us against the winner of NYG/Tampa, and if Garcia is healthy and playing ok Tampa would probably beat them because Eli will lose the game for the G-men...leaving us to beat up on Tampa

GB would probably beat Seattle at home, though I dont think its a lock...if we just score 21 vs Tampa, we probably win easily

Anybody know how many teams have lost to a certain opponent in the regular season but defeated them in the Super Bowl? I think the Raiders did it in 1980 and '83.

Dallas lost to Buffalo in week 2 of the 93 season and but beat them in the SB.

For me, I think it will be hard to compare a playoff game against them and the week 7 win we had.

In week 7, I felt from the get go (just like vs Rams) the team was very lackadaisical. There was no electricity, and I felt like they were just going through the motions.

It might have been the Vikings defense, I don't know but I have a feeling that if we were to play the Vikings again, we will have a much better offensive production.

And I believe that we are the only team in recent games to hold Peterson to less than 100 yards rushing. Even though, I feel like part of that was b/c they kind of gave up with the run for some reason.

But we will have to see if we actually do play them.

if we play them again, I hope they committ to trying to make up for wk. 7, rushing wise

there is no doubt in my mind about how good our rushing D is

Embarrassing oversight on my part.

Minny is very dangerous. But no rookie will come into our house and win a playoff game. Not unless AP goes wild and I don;t think we'd let him. I'd like to play Seattle and Tampa, but I doubt we'll be that lucky. My guess is we get Minny and G.Bay: two tough draws indeed.

Dallas could just as easily play TB, Seattle, NY, Detroit or Arizona. Its almost impossible to predict at this point.

Re the Giants, has any team ever beat a team 3 times in one year?

Tennessee beat Jacksonville 3 times in 99.

In fact, those were Jacksonville's only losses that year.

I think that the Cowboys are a better team now than when they last played Minny, but Minny is better as well. Jackson has played better in recent weeks, and he can throw the ball. I would not take them lighly. I would also not rule out Tampa or Seattle at this point, as they can play well when it matters.

Tampa and Seattle were both the recipients of poor coaching or poor play this weekend. Neither deserved to win their games. What was Sean Peyton thinking? That was the stupidest play ever called in that situation in my memory.

Thinking back to the Eagles - Seahawks game, Tatupu did nothing but stand there and catch three interceptions. He didn't have to jump, or dive, or wrestle the ball, or break in front of the receiver, he just stood there and caught 3 passes from Feeley. What did Feeley think Tatupu was going to do, switch uniforms?

I don't think the Seahawks are going to be much of a threat. Without those three interceptions, they would have lost the game.

Tampa is down to their third quarterback. He played well, but so did Feely against the Patriots. McCown will revert to his old ways if he gets on the field again. Garcia? Shut down Galloway, and what do you have? A lot of missed passes I think.

Based on the way things are going, it looks like Minn will get the last playoff spot and play Seattle or Tampa Bay on the road in the wild card round.

Chances are, with AD playing the way he has been, Minnesota will likely advance and play us in the second round.

Although we beat them already and didn't have trouble moving the ball, we did have a bit of trouble scoring on their defense. We also gave up on defensive TD to them, and another defensive TD was called back due to a penalty.

Of the remaining teams, I think Minn. might give us the most trouble in the NFC because of their running attack (which is really the only way to slow down our offense).

Thoughts?

If you stress over it long enough, you'll a find reason any potential NFC Playoff team can upset Dallas in the divisional round.

In a one a done playoff format anything can happen.

Well I'm here to tell you "anything" will not happen.
We are going to the Superbowl this year, nothing will stop that now.

If you want to stress about something, stress about the Patriots.
We're better now than week 6 but we still need to improve if we're to win.

We need to face the toughest road possible to improve as a team.
Our most likely path is NYG and G.B. in Dallas. Lucky for us its probably the toughest road the NFC has to offer.

Minnesota does not worry me in the least. They're a one dimensional offense without much of a passing threat, and we have one of the best run defenses in the entire league. We would dominate the Vikes.

I would add :
the 93 Raiders over the Broncos,
The 91 Chiefs over the Raiders,
The 86 Giants over Washington
The 82 Dolphins over Jets

i cliffnoted this thread to get to this...

bring on anything the best the NFC has, that way there will be NO QUESTION.

just bring it, no hoping for the worst to win, whatever, matchups thing. just bring it. I think that is the way this team would want it anyway, to prove a point
