MMQB: The Cowboys shouldn't re-sign Pickens

True that. But if one see the whole field like the tape up in Frisco I bet you could point to several times Dak
could have thrown to him for the whole game.
I believe so to. But we know it’s much easier to see the first on top then under center.

What about the other games before that?

George Pickens Stats after 14 games

1,212 yards (3rd overall in NFL)
81 receptions (8th overall in NFL)
8 touchdowns (7th overall in NFL)

Many of you need to stop being prisoners of the moment. Let go of your recency bias and look at the big picture.
Well said......some hungry to place Pickens on the Fall Guy List for 2025......can't help themselves.

Better off building a stellar defense and signing Williams to ensure the running game remains strong. They will resign Pickens to justify Dak's contract and so he can continue to put up irrelevant numbers.

Why wouldn't you, he's been solid, minus a couple games. You can say that about anyone.
Tag him!

lol, he’s the most most talented WR this team has had in a long time. Lamb is a stud but as far as pure talent he’s the best I’ve seen in a while.
Exactly why I'm keeping him at least through 2026.........

Judging his entire season off the last two games seems a bit unfair to me. I am still bullish on bringing him back, but as stated before, with the tag.

Cowboys Shouldn’t Extend George Pickens After Another No-Show

The star receiver has gone quiet at the worst time for Dallas, and he shouldn’t be prioritized by a team that already has salary cap issues.

He is about to go into hybernation mode once he gets paid. We are good with Cee Dee and the others. Either way, jerry knows the clock is ticking for another season while ignoring the glaring issues on Defense.

Every game matters.
One play can show a red flag, let alone one or two games.

Fair point, but one could also say leaving out his Pittsburgh years is recency bias. The reports about his behavior in team meetings, etc. included some pretty massive red flags.

I hope they do. We need to get the salary cap to at least 55 on the offense; the defense can fend for itself.

I don't think it has anything to do with his performance.

If we resign Pickens, we will have another top 5 offense, with a struggling Defense.

I disagree and will leave it at that.......many posters, myself included, have tried to explain otherwise but your mind is made up and that's fine.

True and one play can show greatness or game winners. Exactly why players are evaluated over a body of work during a career or season rather than a few games.

You mean no one will trade for him? I am confused what you mean by everyone will walk?
You don’t see tag and trades in the NFL when the player is a FA. Dallas doesn’t have the cap space to tag him. Once he’s tagged everyone will say, “Fine, eat that 30 million direct cap hit”

I'm on the fence about a long-term deal but def bringing him back for 2026. He's been too good for like 12 weeks. Love a 2026 trio of Pickens, Lamb and Flournoy........
I've been for tagging him from the start, and don't feel any differently about that. If we don't, then we either have to hope Flournoy can handle being the No. 2 or make receiver a draft priority when we have so many other needs.

Agree, the tag is the smartest decision.......it buys time for several major decisions on this position. Hell, we may decide after another year that he is our best WR rather than Lamb.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Lamb's contract becomes very tradable after 2026
