This guy is in a "contract year". His NFL life is flashing before his very eyes. How many times have we seen this? Guy suddenly looks all worldly just to get a contract and then sinks back into douchenozzle status afterwards. Don't fall for it folks.

I am going to enjoy finally seeing MO be what he should have been when we drafted him (this year) and look forward to filling that spot next year. Continue to build through the draft and jettison old mistakes. I don't trust him and our front office shouldn't either.

We should have never done what we did to Demarco. That should have been reserved for this dude.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing him play for his contract... (from someone else)

The difference this year has nothing to do with his playing for a contract, it has to do with health. He was healthy last year for the first time in his career and he played better. This year he's not only healthy but stronger and more confident from last season.

I look forward to seeing him play, period.

I respectfully disagree with the alleged difference but at least we both agree on one thing. We both look forward to seeing him play.

So, just give up on him even if he has a solid season? We aren't exactly stacked in the secondary. He knows the system. It would be an added bonus if he does turn that corner and Dallas can get rid of Carr next summer.

He might pull a " hatcher" on us. Hatcher was a beast in his last season with the Cowboys. Absolutely ruthless.

Last year was a contract year for him as well so I disagree with that point. Mo has just finally blossomed, it takes some longer than others and he is finally healthy. I wanna see him tear it up, but I want to resign him.

My whole premise here is take it at face value. Don't fall into the trap and become charmed into just handing out another 4 years to this dude.

You can use another word if you don't like blossom lol. Point is that he's turning the corner. Josh Norman also didn't burst on the scene until Last year. However if Mo is able to recreate a Norman type season it will be much more believable since he isn't surrounded by the dominant Panthers defense. Tone your skepticism down some bro

Yes health and his own admission that last year was the first year he actually learned how to study and digest game film. This isnt a guy who has been known for his intelligence or as being a student of the game. Maybe just maybe hes slowly began to develop not due to only wanting money but having some pride in himself.

I've detailed it before in a Claiborne breakdown, he's only lacked comfort and confidence.

Wouldn't this have applied to last year, tho?

I think health and confidence plays a big role in this. He probably could've gotten the same or more on a one year deal elsewhere if it was that important.

douchenozzle is a new word in my vocabulary, lol. I agree that we have witnessed so many players come alive during contract years only to relax after the big second contract and become a douchenozzle. But if Mo plays well as his draft status dictates we should try and resign him to a team friendly deal or let him walk.

Cornerback is a big money market but I'd rather keep our money to pay our hogs on offense

Just like good ol DeeMarco

if the price is right sign him.

we should never begrudge another man or woman for trying to get as much as they can for signing for more elsewhere.

It's business

But we can ridicule him if the move doesn't work as planned

He was healthy last year for the first time in his career and he played better. .

Other than the 5 entire games Mo Claiborne missed last season due to injury and other game he was knocked out of...

He was able to play roughly 65% of the time.

In summary, his health is going to have everything to do with his next contract.

If he has a great year do like we did with Spencer(without the franchise tag) and give him another 1 year contract. If he stays healthy and produces then I have no problem resigning Claiborne to a longer contract
