Mo the #2, #3, or #4 CB going forward?

I am assuming Scandrick bumps Mo to #3 CB. Is there a scenario where he stays at #2?

Also, is it possible Moore begins to move into the #3 CB position and Mo moves to #4 CB?

I realize it's blasphemous to discuss the possibility of Mo as #4 CB, however, frankly, it doesn't seem like a stretch either.

Aren't most teams in their nickel 40% of the time anyway? In the modern NFL, your nickel back is much more important than your third linebacker.

Furthermore, Claiborne really hasn't done anything to warrant being demoted.

Moving forward (next season) with Carr's contract, we go Claiborne and Scandrick as #1's and Moore as the Nickel/slot.

This week is up in the air, they may rotate Scandrick with Mo and Carr and keep Moore where he is or they may start Scandrick at the Nickel/slot and sit Moore.

I don't think it so blasphemous. Moore has played well to start the season and it isn't like Mo has ever made anyone brim with confidence in his two plus years here in Dallas. If Mo is playing like the fourth best corner on the roster then make him the fourth corner.

If it were up to me our dime package would be 4 down lineman with Moore, Scandrick, Mo, Carr, Church, Wilcox, and McClain all on the field. Forget the 2nd LB and play either Church or Wilcox up towards/in the box. Gotta figure out how to cover TE's and RB's because they are what is killing the D.

They've had 3 CBs on the field the majority of the snaps against both the Niners and Titans.

Despite playing well as the slot CB, I don't think they want the 5'9-1/2" Moore on the outside.

going forward? CB1.
I really want to believe this.

If Moore continues to do well, and Claiborne proves that he can at least be a serviceable #2 guy, I'd be content with Scan, Mo, and Moore going into next season as the top 3. I'm not sure Carr makes it to next season with us unless he has a good year.

Its Carr and Claiborne and Scandrick in the slot. If one of those guys are struggling i'd imagine Scandrick would take their duties. I like Moore and he has played well but not well enough for me to stop Mo's progression.

He doesn't bump Mo at all, but Moore might.

Scandrick is an excellent nickel guy in the slot, but he's not nearly as strong outside. But Moore might be.

They'll keep pumping Mo out there. Jerry is desperate for that pick to pan out.

I disagree. Scandrick's been strong inside and out, but he's definitely our best slot CB and will take over that responsibility. I've always liked Moore, and still do, but he's probably closer to being off the roster than he is to displacing Mo in the top three anytime soon. I'm still not sure why he was released last year in the putdowns, because all he does is make plays in games, but there's something about his play the rest of the time that the team doesn't seem to trust. And, physically, Mo is a much better option for us outside, anyway.

Patmon is the wild card in all the CB shuffling. I thought he might have an outside chance of winning the slot reps with Scandrick out. I'm thrilled with how Moore played during that time, but I'm a little disappointed we didn't get to see the rookie out there a bit. I think he could end up being a player for us in a year if he keeps up the trajectory he was on in camp.

Mo is the #2 CB on this team until he seizes #1 from Carr this season.

Just my two pennies...

I would be shopping Claiborne right now. I would rather roll with Carr (begrudgingly), Scandrick, Sterling, and patmon along with one more backup.

I have seen enough of Claiborne and will accept whatever I can get for him (nothing less than a 3rd, though) at this time as long as it doesn't kill the cap. Time to move on.

Sometimes, things don't work out as planned. Need to realize that quickly and cut your losses.

Mo looked pretty good Sunday - yeah, he didn't make a tackle on a TE but his coverage was good. I want to see how he does in man coverage for the course of the year

The plan was flawed from the beginning. No way you spend that type of currency (a first and second) on a CB.

A bad trade made even worse with the realization that they could have taken Luke Kuechly, Dontari Poe, or Fletcher Cox with that pick.

Not all firsts and seconds are created equal. In terms of the value of the pick, it was a smart trade for Dallas. The issue is that we missed on it on a trade up. That hurts.

That wouldn't be smart. Considering what we paid in return for what we would get (unlikely a 3rd) it's not worth trading Mo.

It doesn't matter what we paid for him. We aren't getting anything close to that in return right now. Never likely will. But, at least we can get something now. I think many teams would part with a 3rd for a chance especially if they are desperate at CB and think they are one player away from making a difference. The Jets are pretty banged up in the secondary along with a few other teams. Sometimes teams think a change of scenery along with a change of scheme can do wonders for the player.

Oakland and Jacksonville are desperate for anything at this juncture to generate fan support and hope. Both coaches (and maybe GMs) are on a very short leash. If there is a lkelihood that they may not be ther next year unless things change quickly, they might push for a trade. Anything.
