Mo the #2, #3, or #4 CB going forward?

The plan was flawed from the beginning. No way you spend that type of currency (a first and second) on a CB.

A bad trade made even worse with the realization that they could have taken Luke Kuechly, Dontari Poe, or Fletcher Cox with that pick.

Life is easy when you grade in hindsight.

As I'm sure you all know, the slot CB is a different position. Scandrick is the best we have in the slot and I doubt the team moves him from that spot unless they are forced to. I think Carr and Mo are still the starting CBs for the foreseeable future.

I think we'll see what we saw last year. Scandrick will start on the outside and move to the slot in nickel situations with Mo coming in to man the outside. I think the real question will be if the team feels comfortable enough with Moore in the slot to leave Scandrick on the outside. Would they rather have their best two outside corners on the field with their best slot guy, or would they rather have one of their best two outside corners, their best slot guy, and their third best outside corner? In other words, are they more comfortable with Moore in the slot than they are with Claiborne on the outside? Based on what I've seen so far it seems like a fair question to ask.

I am assuming Scandrick bumps Mo to #3 CB. Is there a scenario where he stays at #2?

Also, is it possible Moore begins to move into the #3 CB position and Mo moves to #4 CB?

I realize it's blasphemous to discuss the possibility of Mo as #4 CB, however, frankly, it doesn't seem like a stretch either.

Given the struggles Church and Wilcox have had with TE's, I could actually see them moving Sterling to a Free Safety role.

Mo should be TRADED going forward. If he is not the #1 or #2 (Scandrick & Carr) then he really needs to be traded, might even have some value left after coming off "great" game.

Usually I agree, but there was a time when Scandrick was the #3 CB and we signed him to a contract. Many where upset, including myself. Then the light bulb turns on for him and it looks like a genius move by the front office.

Can Claiborne be that guy? Maybe.. If we did a similar thing with Claiborne, I wouldn't be too upset. You need 3 solid CBs nowadays.

Claiborne is either going to remain the second CB starting, or, at worst, third CB.

This really isn't up for debate.

Difference is, Scandrick wasn't always injured early in his career.

What's even worse is that we drafted another CB about 10 picks ahead of Richard Sherman in the 5th that year. We wanted and needed another corner, and STILL whiffed. Is Josh Thomas even playing in the NFL anymore? Because Sherman sure is.

I've often thought we scout certain positions well and others...um, not so much. Corner is one of those.

I don't know where you get the idea that Claiborne is going to continue starting over Scandrick. Claiborne is the 3rd CB who has been playing at about the same level as the 4th CB (Moore).

he was, actually.

he lost his job to mike jenkins due to getting banged up.
then he started playing less as a nickel guy and developed.

the first couple times they tried him outside he looked pretty bad.

last year forced to play outside he looked like a pro bowler.

Yes, I think there is. Claiborne isn't playing bad and he has to play to continue to improve in coverage. Mo can't play inside very well and scandrick is best in the slot, I think 100% of the time Dallas is in the nickle, you will see Mo outside and O inside. I think there is a good chance that they leave Mo starting when they go to just 2 corners (which probably won't be that often).

Claiborne is playing pretty well actually. The biggest weakness of his that I see is his physicality and tackling... and that seems improved this year. He was pretty physical in camp and hasn't been bad in either game.

The myth that he sucks is perpetuated by it's own story. He isn't bad.

right now, mo is our best pure cover guy. and it really isn't close.
fans are stupid.
end of discussion.
I should have read to the end of the thread before I posted. You said it better than I did.

You always have been pretty succinct, JT.

I don't remember many completions against Claiborne in the Titans game.

I've seen people blaming him for not making the tackle on Walker, but Walker had a head of steam and outweighs Claiborne by 60 pounds. Claiborne did slow him down, but nobody else was there to finish the tackle.

Yeah, I was aggravated about him not using his arms to wrap up Walker, but that is more a pet peeve of mine (that goes for all defenders) than anything else.

He isn't playing bad at all. Like I mentioned earlier, even the physical aspect of his game is drastically improved.
