1-15 OT Sonny Styles LB Ohio 6’4 243

1-28 trade back with Miami.

2-43 Damon Wilson Ii DE 6’4 250 Missouri - played at Georgia. Just a dude in the run game and getting sacks making plays

3-75 Davison Igbonoson CB 6’2 193 - stress tested CB that has proven to be highly talented

4-115 Jacob Rodriguez LB 6’1 230 - off the charts in Run D and Pass. Overhaul is complete

Stop with all the "trade back" stuff.

That worked in the late 80s and early 90s when Jimmy Johnson was putting together a speed defense that differed from what most teams were looking for.

Also, scouting stank back then. There wasn't a ton of film.

Sort of a different time now. We've got extensive film on most D1 players and can get much better information on the small school guys.

Ain't no outsmarting folks by trading back anymore. Take your best shot with the higher pick. Stop living in the past, gramps.

Chances of Jerry relinquishing that 5th year option???

Zero with an 0!

This is wildly inappropriate and inaccurate. Congratulations

Oh, if someone questions the quality of your ideas, you immediately go to something like this rather than engaging with evidence.

Brilliant. I know you see important grown ups doing the same thing but that just isn't argumentation.

You’re not questioning the quality of my ideas. You presented an unsubstantiated claim about 40 years of drafting without presenting your statistical data and an ad hominem fallacy.

I don’t care what else you have to say since you’ve shown what you are.

You are just spewing AI generated nonsense. You start a thread. Evidence for claim falls on you.

I am a little confused as to your point. There are always a handful of teams every year that trade back those bottom half of the first round picks for more picks. Shoot we did it two years ago with our 23rd pick and ended up with Guyton and then Beebe in the 3rd with that extra pick.

I’m hoping Jerry grabs one of the decent DE/Edge players that are available in FA this year, then address later in the draft.
I really hope they are able to get Styles in the 1st. If not, I’ll still be happy if they get Allen.
I hope they target Jalen Kilgore if still available at #115. He’s a do-it-all DB out of S. Carolina

Id be shocked if Kilgore lasted that long.

I would love Downs but dont see a scenario he reaches us. With 3nd first, especially if we stick with Flus, I'd target Haulcy.

I’m hoping for a trade down, and R. Mason Thomas falling due to measurables. He should be on the Cowboys radar if things line up. OU has a pretty solid safety that also should be on the radar.

I disagree. With limited picks and no second and third round picks, I can easily see him trading back.
Jerry has stated in multiple interviews that he's reluctant to give up the 5th year option.
McClay has stated in several interviews that moving down and or out of the first is poor strategy.
Just don't see it happening unless someone throws in a first and I don't see the value of doing so with what's currently available in mocks!

Every year there are maybe 10 to 12 first round grades. So trading back a late 1st is not a big deal at all.

Right!
And then it comes down to BPA. Is the BPA at say 22 significantly better than the BPA available at say 39?
If not, why would someone want to move up?

Just going by past statements by Jerry and McClay going against their instincts and being too far out for any clarity of how these prospects going to slot is it even discussable currently?

Are you really sure you want Jerry trying to prove how smart he is.
I can still remember him trying to be cute, passing on Tony Brackens for the kid out of Mcneese!

Jerry is not smart. He gets lucky at times. Dumb people need more picks.

Rams and Ravens still trade back and they seem to draft better than anyone

But as always, determining to trade back ahead of time ignores any great players that could drop to you on draft day.

But it's all in good fun on a fan site.

You mean like the Mazi Smith Scouting???

Depending on where we finish with season and that draft slot for 1st pick and who has slipped, may be best option this year.
