A non-starter in the 1st round? Nope...
So who do you think is going to be taken. An OT, and OG or Carpenter, or maybe a FS. Those are the only people who are probably day one starters for our team.

Even if we did go WR.... which we won't.... we wouldn't take S. Holmes over Jackson.

Thanks for Welcoming me to the site. I do realize that my Mock is a far reach. Based on what information ha leaked (purposely I am sure) the Draft Brain trusts of the cowboys see this draft as lacking on top flight talent but very deep none the less which seems reasonable. Saying that many teams will want to stockpile this talent and it is very common to see Rooks earn their stripes in the nickle, dime, or special teams. This is more important than most of us realize. Wanting to trade down in this type of draft is generally on the mind of many but it is a very difficult thing especially under such time limits as trade downs generally happen in the "on the clock" time when someone slips or gets taken unexpectantly. In conclusion, when faced with the 18th pick the value is more close player by player thanthose in the top 10 and we know the Boys love those extra picks. Bear in mind that these guys represent low costs bodies and even w/o the extras, the Cowboys will be very busy as usual in the post draft rookie free agent signings. P.S. Pick 62 in in RD2 (WR).

Game on!

Probably our best hope for a trade down is Indy wanting to move up to get one specific RB, or someone with a high 2 wanting to trade up to get someone.

My first thought would be OLB - And who ever it is, will start. If not start, then they will start by week 3 or 4.
If we get Justice, I can see him possibly starting over Fabini, but I don't see any other OT (that we have a chance of getting) starting.

Free Safety? I think that who ever we pick, will have to blow the competition out of the water to start.

So my guess would be OLB, and more specifically, Carpenter/Lawson/Wimbley in that order.

Umm, Manny Lawson isn't even picked in the first round of this mock. We could easily move down and get him or Carpenter. A much more likely scenario then us drafting Holmes.

I doubt either of the tweener conversion picks start day one, and quite likely take longer than that to earn a huge chunk of play time. Lawson/Wimberly just have a much larger learning curve, they have to learn the NFL and an entirely new position.

You may be right, but I'll guarantee you they rotate linebackers until Parcells' feels he's ready.

Lawson was a OLB his freshman and sophomore years, so it would not be all new to him.

He wasn't very good at it though. And he'd be a LB in the 3-4 so it would be new to him.

Not saying he can't do it, but let's not act like it wouldn't be a big change. It would be. Just like it was for Ware.
