1st 18: Jonathan Cooper, G, NC It's Cooper, we'd all be happy with Cooper.

2nd 47: Matt Elam, SS, Florida I'd rather draft a FS like Phillip Thomas or Jonathan Cyprien here. They could trade down here, grab their FS(Thomas or Swearinger in the late 2nd, and take Earl Wolff later or Rontez Miles even later

3rd 80: Oday Aboushi, OT, Virginia Would rather have Brian Winters, or draft Chris Faulk if you stay OT

4th 111: Akeem Spence, DT, Illinois Good Pick.

5th 144: Spenser Ware, RB, LSU I REALLY like Spencer Ware. He should be available in the 6th and/or 7th. But I like his game a lot.

6th 175: A.J. Klein, LB, Iowa St Will probably go one round earlier, but good player.

Would be a pretty solid draft tbh. Don't think Elam will fall that far though. Same with Oboushi. Athletic OT's usually go in the top 2 rounds.

I'd be very happy with it, honestly. I'm afraid Elam will already be gone by our second pick, but if we happened to get him there, I'd be thrilled.

I like Aboushi and love the Spence pick.

Good work.

Not too crazy about the last two picks though... if you could have snuck Tyrann Mathieu in there late, I'd have really loved it. I understand why a lot of people don't want him though.

Agree with everything here.

Wouldn't it be funny to have Spencer and Ware on the team and then select Spencer Ware in the draft. :lmao:

For the guys who want to draft Elam. Do you expect Matt Johnson to be the FS? Because Church is a SS in Kiffin's defense along with Elam.

Yea. I've given up going through each post trying to explain why Elam doesn't fit and why we are looking for a FS and someone who can play single high and play "Center Field" Every mock seems to include him and every post asks about him lol

Elam can't play FS I can assure you of that. He's a pure SS in Kiffin's scheme which is what Church is slated for also. Matt Johnson is the FS in your scenario with Sterling Moore possibly in contention.

Great mock, I'd love to see it. I get the feeling they will take a RB higher in the draft though, like in the 3rd or 4th.

I've watched elam for 3yrs at florida, I live 45 minutes away from gainesville...care to explain why u think he's strictly a ss? Because I've seen him lined up all over the field, free, strong, single high, cover 2, nd in the slot... He has the measurables to play both safety spots, his biggest issue is not wrapping up when he tackles.. But that can be taught and with kiffin he'll have one of the best fundamental coaches....

:laugh2: You may want to check what Garrett, Kiffin, and Marinelli have been saying for the past months. Just because the base defense is a cover 2 does not signify that that will be all we play. They have said that one of our more prominent looks will be a single high safety look with the Strong Safety in the box.

He doesn't fit the scheme that Kiffins runs, he expects a whole lot more out of the FS position than he does the SS coverage wise. Elam at his best is in the box and can also cover some man to man, SS.

With Church already here, that means Elam is probably even lower on our big board, b/c they're going to play the same position.

Elam isn't bad. But why draft a SS to play FS, when you could draft a FS, who did it well, with high upside in the pros, and is a ballhawk?

Cause he's not just a strong safety... He's a a safety, he plays both very well... He does well in zone... Gators zone blitz alot and they sent josh evans on the blitz leaving elam as the single safety... The dude would be amazing in kiff
ins defense...

Can y'all tell me who the "free" safety was for the bucs?

Because I'm telling you right now elam is 10times better than that guy.

Id def take elam in the sec over vacarro in the first. 10 outta 10 times

Dexter Jackson, who was a really good player paired with Lynch.

No use they know it all.

Except that half the players they are touting at better fits are SS too.:laugh1:
