Usually it would be on a local channel yes, CBS 11 usually or 21.
But since ESPN / ABC are under the same ownership, then this is the reason why. ESPN crap were the reason why Disney stocks dipped so much.
I am a bit surprised, but I am sure some strings were pulled. Unless it was negotiated in some contract issue.

Yeah Jazz, that's really strange. I've never heard of ESPN exporting an NFL game, let alone their biggest game of the year to their network affiliate, mainly because they use the MNF package as a major selling point to cable subscribers.

Very curious.

yeah I think if you dont have espn, only dallas and detroit areas will get another local option.

And he won a Super Bowl "on Dungy's team" and all that jazz.

Look, Argle, I just like the guy. He's fun in that booth. Kind of like that nut, crazy uncle that's had a few too many. Fun to be around for a few hours, never dull.

But thanks for some added insight, brother. I haven't heard this. Interesting.
he is ok in the booth, but really he just isnt cut out to be an announcer.
His QB show is ok I saw the one with dak, but he should be an analyst not an announcer.

But I guess some enjoy him.
I like some of what he says, but some of it is just silly.

And he did take over a championship team that dungy built, and got it to SB, but he never built a SB team.

I couldn't agree more. I mute the television when I have to hear Collingsworth or Buck for 3 hours, I'm looking forward to Gruden though.

I really don't want him to get back into coaching because he is one of the few national commentators I can stand.

He faced the Raiders in the SB which is the team he built

Gruden is freaking awesome. He's a hyper, little ball of fury, and knows Xs and Os. Why do people dislike this guy so much??
I think some are turned off by him because he rarely ever criticizes any player...seems every player he talks about is a future HOFer. He doesn't bother me, though. If an analyst is going to go overboard one way or the other in critiquing players, I'd rather listen to the positive view.

This. Why so many people miss this is beyond me, Viman. Cray cray. Gruden is a fantastic, elite, head coach.

I can see how that can be a bit grating, Landry. That's fair. I personally think it's what makes him, him. Super enthused and just loves the game :)

Oh, you're right about that being him. He shouldn't change his game. He's been quite successful doing his thing his way. On a side note, I was listening to him on SIRIUS yesterday and when asked if he would be interested in coaching again (the Rams apparently are very interested in him) he pretty much shot it down. He said he enjoyed doing what he's doing and the time he has with his family too much to get back into coaching. He seemed very sincere and serious in his answer...it wasn't BS, IMO.

Just make sure you register because the app verifies that you have ESPN as part of your cable package at home in order to watch it free.
Also for some reason the only sporting event on the app that won't stream on your phone is the NFL game. It has to be a tablet, computer, or casting to the TV.

For those who live in DFW area and dont have cable.
Just checked and for some reason it is on abc !
not ch 11 or CBS

So ironically abc will air a mnf game !
I guess it will still have gruden announcing?? he gets tiresome after awhile.

Disney owns ESPN/ABC. They are in the same family. Any MNF game should always be on ABC.

Yes, I've heard similar sentiments from him recently, Landry. He isn't gonna coach that team (Rams). He makes a fortune (I think 6m/AAV) announcing.

Mike Shanahan was on The Herd yesterday and he said he wouldn't coach, either. He said he's more interested in some sort of executive role.

Probably gonna be Kyle (Mike's son) getting that job.

Yep when they get those relatively cushy gigs for the same bank as they would get working 100+ hour weeks coaching, it becomes easy to lose that desire for competition.

Idk that's weird the one time I used it I didn't have any problems. Maybe they changed it? That's good to know though

It's because the only way an NFL game can be watched live on a phone is through Verizon. I can't wait until that dumb agreement ends...

Because he sucks up to every QB there is, rarely if ever points out negatives and has pretty much become a caricature of himself. Hard to take him seriously anymore.
