Draft is not deep on DE's and there are only so many holes that can be filled by the draft, especially considering our track record.

I actually think it's a weak draft for edge rushers myself. Lots of DT not many quality de

Jack Crawford is a valuable rotation player. We need rotation depth, so he becomes important. We still won't overpay him, but I'm shocked he hasn't gotten an offer from somebody. He'd be a good value on a small deal.

We should be using FA to find and sign as many Jack Crawfords as possible. Those guys are out there, if you look hard enough. The fact that we've got one still unsigned suggests a couple other teams do, too. Then develop stars via the draft where we can.

I've always thought Jack was a must regardless of the snubs. He's a really good player.

Crawford is a good rotational player, high motor young . It's looking like bosa may be the pick.. This could be the 2005 draft all over again..which is a good thing

So basically, with arguably our greatest need being pass rush this offseason, we are left scrambling to grab a guy like Andre Branch or Jones who might be able to bring " a little" pass rush.

Their best option of even having an average pass rush this year is re-sign Hardy. And they won't do that. So slice it anyway you want, they have failed to fix a need that they stressed was very important.

Oh and thinking the draft solves the pass rush problem is fool's gold.

That's where they get to compound their mistakes. They'll overdraft Bosa at #4 in a panic and then try to tell everyone that they've fixed the problem. And then everyone gets to watch the rookie put up 6 sacks for the year.

I like the frugal approach to free agency, but I really thought DE was the one spot that we might splurge a little in free agency this year. Mario Williams especially was a guy that we would bring in and I think the contract he signed was not too over the top. I would be feeling a lot better if we were looking at a D-line of DLaw, Crawford, Thornton, and Williams right now.

They do. This is a league built on dime-a-dozen players. Young DLs who can play four spots along the line and get pressure are normally in demand.

I'm not saying Jack Crawford is special, or that he's better than he really is. I'm realistic about him. But he was the free agent on our team I thought was maybe most likely to go somewhere on a deal we would have thought excessive in that first week of FA, and so far, we haven't heard of any interest in him from anybody.

And that tells me that either he's not well-regarded outside Dallas (like most of the re-signings), or that he thinks he's worth more than everyone else does.

I sure don't want to hear people cheering if Jack Crawford comes back on a deal paying him $2 - $3 million a year. That's no bargain for a rotational player.

Hardy looks pretty good to me right now. Garrett needs to put his big boy pants on, have a talk with the guy/agent and figure it out. To me it's simple, one year deal, no guarantees, slip up once and your done.
Crawford and Hardy back means the team is stronger on the dline today than when it ended the season provided DLaw returns to normal. It also means you don't HAVE to get a lineman first round, though I still pick one in the first three.

I think the latter with Crawford.

Though I don't agree that most of our players aren't well regarded outside Dallas. They're mid-roster guys, but they're getting attention. In some cases they're getting better offers and still electing to stay here.

Remember the day when if we wanted a FA he was here. Not so much because of the money, but everybody wants to play on a winner, well.......

Oh it was the money too... Make no mistake about that.

Not long ago the Cowboys would shower these free-agents with coin.

Yeah, the whole, "Guys use to want to come play for Dallas, just because it was Dallas" is closer to malarkey than it is fact...

Dallas was nice but the fat contracts Jerry was handing out was even better.

I must have missed those other offers.

While I'm glad Hanna is back, I think they overpaid given how little he's used. I still don't see how McClain's 2015 made him worthy of a raise. I think the only reasonable bargain they got was on Claiborne.

24 tackles and 4 sacks in last 2 seasons. Neither of which he played all 16 games. Over 30. Next....

Yet people are acting like Dallas missed on the second coming of Reggie White.

As usual people saw a name and they looked at their madden ratings and said...OH hell we have to have this guy.

So there in a serious bind at DE when there's an upcoming draft full of quality DEs:huh::laugh:

How did the best DE in the draft do last year? It's not a position where rookies do much of anything... Tell me any that did.
