VING -- Any sense of uncertainty among the Cowboys hierarchy as the team embarks on a ground game without DeMarco Murray is kept behind closed doors.Murray ran for more yards in 2014 than Emmitt Smith ever did in a single season. The Cowboys amassed more yards on the ground than they had at any point in the previous 32 years. Yet club officials cling to the belief that Murray’s contributions will be offset by committee

Executive vice president Stephen Jones went as far as to say that these Cowboys will have the same type of running game, “if not better than we had last year.’’

Most of you will latch onto the “if not better’’ phrase and hold Jones accountable if that doesn’t unfold. But the key phrase here is the same type.

This committee won’t duplicate what Murray provided. Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden, Lance Dunbar, and however Christine Michael fits into the equation, will gain yards differently.

Talk talk talk, all it is. The off season has been great. A lot will rest against the Giants and the Cowboys PR might feel, just keep the talk like it was last year. The team might have picked up some defense swagger, but lost some offense swagger. Lets see what happens before we roast Jones. Yes the RBBC will not duplicate Murray, but whos to say that last season will be the start of something for Murray, for all we know he might get so dinged up in Philly, both sides will regret it. Either way we are passed it and better off for NOT paying that money.

I'm interested in seeing how they go about it. If you are changing guys out too much and they are not getting the carries it is hard for RB to get into the flow. I think by week 3 to 4 one player will stand out as a lead RB who will get majority of carries. It will be no where near the load Murray had but I do expect one to separate from the rest.

I just do not see Randle going by Joe, I am sure his friends have a name they call him and I am sure his family calls him something I just do not think Joe is a name any of them use. Not to mention it seems when he discusses randle he uses Joe Randle but when he discusses other players he hardly breaks out the Tony Romo, or Jason Witten or Dez bryant.

Doing this crap is going to hurt us early on. I agree eventually one of these guys will start taking the bulk of the carries (Hopefully), but our running game isn't going to be as strong until one of them emerge.

I will not be surprised if this is what causes us to lose a game or two early on. This reminds me a lot of 2011 where we rotated Jones, Choice, and Murray. Just choose who you think can handle the workload and find your change of pace guy. This is the regular season, not preseason.

I just hope they get themselves a solid strategy for RB rotation and stick to it, keep the faith, don't let the mediots bully them,,, because bigger than life the media will find fault with whatever they do.

I'd say, at the very least, you're reading too much into it.

They lost in 2011 because they were still ridding the stink from there last head coach and the defense got ravaged by injury, not because of the run game.

Olandis Gary, CJ Anderson, Mike Anderson, Quentin Griffin, Tatum Bell, Willis McGahee, Knowshon Moreno, Reuben Drohns......

The Broncose just churn through them.

So do the Patriots, Packers, and others.

The running backs here are more than adequate to get this done.

And yet, our winning streak came that year when Murray rushed the ball over 20 times. Hmm, fancy that.

Yeah, Broncos have a different offensive scheme. They also have Manning throwing over 500-600 times, lessening the importance of the RB position on that team.

And the Broncos still had their main guys: McGahee in 2011, Moreno in 2013, and Anderson came on later in the 2014 season. They knew who their biggest threat at RB was those years and utilized them. We don't have that right now.

And Eddie Lacey is the main RB in Greenbay, and again, Patriots are a pass happy team. Different offensive schemes that don't rely heavily on the run. So, unless you think Romo will be throwing nearly 600 times, I don't see how we relate to those teams.

Romo is a top three QB in the NFL right now. He doesn't need a superstar back.

I think that changes some what this season with Kubiak, even with Manning back there Kubiak offense will feature more running and maybe a bit less wear on Manning arm

True but I do think he needs the running game and not go back to 45 to 50 passes a game. I think keeping the arm fresh through out the game bodes well for Romo and again keeps defense from just pinning their ears back and going after him.
