Moore is just as tall as Tyrod Taylor

The thing that concerns me as we look at another QB..

is that Linehan wanted Moore and he obviously doesn't have a good feel for his own offense of what QB is best..

on the otherhand..I got the impression Weeden wasn't his first choice..

it was Garrett and Jerrahs.

Which brings me to the next conflict.

In looking for the next offensive leader..

what is going to be the criteria?

Are we looking for aomebody to fit Linehan's scheme or are we looking to find somebody similar to Romo..?

Or if we get lucky and somebody truely gifted falls to us..

do we change the scheme to fit him?

I watch what has happened to RG3 and Manziel and Kapernick and see where their playing styles get remolded in the pros and sometimes that's a deal killer.

So while I like the opportunity ahead..I question if we have the concepts, staff and flexibility to get it right without a lot of anghst.

Thoughts anybody?

If there is one thing we have learned, Jason doesn't change the scheme for anything or anyone. It is what it is.

My other concern is that Garrett has yet to prove in his career he can find a QB. This is the same guy that was comfortable with Brad Johnson and Weeden. A bit alarming as far as his trusting his ability to identify a QB.

I'm with you on that.

I think also in the past cap space was a major concern as to what Dallas was willing to invest in a backup QB.

Our cap seems to be in better shape now so drafting and paying for a guy seems more doable from that standpoint.

But I have no idea what they will do until it happens.

If a qb can't move like russell Wilson I prefer them to be around 6'4".

Whatever Tyrod lacks in height he makes it up with mobility and a strong arm, Moore has neither.

I just don't see how people don't get this. Gee, he's as tall as Drew Brees too.

Also, Taylor was the primary backup in Baltimore for four years. Really good situation there with good coaches. Sat and learned.

Such totally different situations.

I like Moore and I think he will improve but I also think he will be a career backup QB. I would like to see the Cowboys look to this draft and take a Lynch or Goff I think the likelihood of one of them still being on the board when the Cowboys pick would be great. I fully expect Romo to start and I think either of those guys would benefit sitting behind Romo

Moore could be 7'6 and wouldn't matter because he's not a good football player.

That's way off-base. He's a good player. His skill set would work for a 6'5" guy but a little guy either has to have an elite, precise arm like Drew Brees or be shifty and mobile like Vick in his prime. Moore seems more a pocket passer - he's got a nice feel back there but you need a monster arm to be that guy.

I like a move up with our 2 to get into the late first to grab Wentz (I think he's rising out of 2 range). We sat and waited for late first/early 2nd guys to fall in the past (Dalton comes to mind). I think we'll be a bit aggressive here.

Best case is someone loves Goff or Lynch and wants to move a few spots up with us to get him. We jump around a bit and land a late first QB and one of the top CBs.

Maybe so, I still like Lynch and Goff and hope we are not picking this low for a long time. I think in the situation Dallas is in with a likely top 5 pick with a chance to get top QB prospect you take it. Houston has failed to do that and they are still having QB issues. I don't think you play around you get a top QB when that opportunity comes. I think both Lynch and Goff have the potential to be franchise type QB. This is just my opinion

I wouldn't hate that. But I look at our CB situation and think if the kid from Florida is there, he's hard to pass on.

Of course, free agency this year will see a ton of QBs on the market or available via trade. Kaep, RG3, Manziel, and Bradford come to mind. Bradford is the least sexy but may be the closest fit to our O. All these guys have issues, but I doubt anyone would argue that these guys wouldn't be a massive upgrade at #2. Really an unprecedented year for available QBs.

We might very well grab a guy we think we can rehab and look later in the draft for a guy who can get 2-3 years of development on. Broncos and the Washington team are good examples of QB development.

Anytime I read anything about putting Showers in at QB, I immediately quit reading. I do.

That points to how miserable this season has been. You know the season has been an epic failure when you see a thread in Dec wanting to start Showers.

there have been others, you cant say short guys cant be nfl QB's and cannon arms dont make a good QB.

Again. Poor logic. Possible yes but highly unlikely. You'd be hard pressed to find a modern day guy who was small and lacked a great arm or running skills who had success in the NFL. Thrown in the disadvantage of being a lefty and you've got amazing hurdles.

So lets stop the "there have been other short QBs" nonsense - that isn't any sort of argument that convinces adults with brains

Totally agree, but its a big move for Jerry.....he hasn't drafted a QB that high since Troy Aikman in 1989.....will he pull the trigger and do it again...
