This announcement does not actually do anything since the future (good or bad) is not set. The problem is that this is patterned behavior from the FO that has been seen for over 23 years.
Top down. Jerry's voice still loudest on managerial and coaching decisions. From someone that values loyalty more than super bowl trophies.
Mcvay had 4 years of tight end (1 year as assistant TE coach) coaching before becoming OC. Maybe Kellen will be great.
But it likely will not be here. Jerry doesn't care as much about who is coaching, as he does about putting up enough wins to keep fans engaged. Mostly, he wants everyone to remember he is the boss. If you are his employee and bend over metaphorically, you will get your pockets lined.
