Latest rumors on Howard are possible sign and trade deals with the Clips and Rockets.

Clippers offering Blake and Bledsoe.

Rockets offering Asik and Len, possibly Harden in some sort of combination with perhaps Robinson.

On the Clippers deal, Blake would be OK but Bledsoe is not enough IMO. There needs to be more talent there.

On the Rockets deal, a trade for Asik and Len would be stupid. Big contracts for guys who don't have a lot of talent in comparison. Why would the Lakers ever make that kind of sign and trade move? Boggles the mind. Trade for a Center who might average 10 pts a game but is a 55% FT shooter and only averages 1.7 Blocks a game at 7 ft. and makes 20 million over the next two years. OK......

Lin is not as bad but still, he's a 12 pt a game guard that does not play real good defense and is very average from the 3 pt line. For this he gets paid that same backloaded contract, 20 million over two years. I mean, you literally can not write this stuff.

It would be nice if the Rockets can get Howard, he is the piece to make them a serious contender. But, if they lose Harden in the process, back to square one. This Houston team needs most of the current players with the addition of Howard, then they can make a playoff run.

The two mentioned players for him would be a steal, don't see that happening.

IMO, he stays with the Lakers and they give it one more run.

I don't think so. I mean, he could stay with the Lakers, they are the team who can certainly offer him the most money but, I don't think the Lakers will. I could see the Lakers doing a sign and trade deal but not one like Houston is offering. Houston is banking on the fact that if the Lakers just allow Howard to walk, which could happen, they will be able to sign him. Now, that may or may not be true. Howard has wanted to play with Paul for a very long time and it would be very easy for the Clippers to become players for him if the Lakers simply let him walk.

I think Houston is being stupid now because not only are they not offering anything in return on a sign and trade deal but they are actually trying to unload crap contracts which the Lakers will never go for. The Lakers are going to have more cap in 2014 then any other team in the league by a very wide margin. They are positioning themselves for that 2014 FA market so there is no way they will consider doing a crappy sign and trade deal such as the one the Rockets are suggesting.

If the Clippers throw in more then just Blake and Bledsoe, I could see the Lakers considering a deal like that.

The Rockets would be absolute idiots to include Harden in a trade, imo.

The rockets are looking at the deal with any eye on Chris Paul as well. They have to free up cap as well as sign Howard. That's the problem. The Lakers will not take on cap that doesn't make their team better heading towards 2014. If they want to do a sign and trade, they must offer talent that the Lakers can move forward with or no sign and trade will happen.

Howard > Harden and it will allow them to attract some nice players down the line.

Harden is over-rated... A ball-hog.. no movement when he's holding onto the ball for like 50 seconds. Howard didn't like Kobe, and definitely won't like Harden.

Has Howard ever liked playing with anyone? When he has talent around him he underperforms and blames the coaching.

Lakers are interested in discussing a sign and trade deal with Milwaukee for Monte Ellis. Ellis is a guy that Howard really likes and would be very interested in playing with. The Lakers would consider the deal because they would obviously want to re-sign Howard and a trade for Ellis might make that possible. The terms of the deal would likely revolve around Gasol going to Milwaukee. This would work for the Lakers because they intend to trade Gasol if Howard resigns anyway.

Both the Hawks and the Mavs are also interested in Ellis for exactly the same reason.

Good point... But in Orlando he did kind of have a point, which even Barkley use to say, that they don't take advantage of him right. Harden is another guy I think just wouldn't mesh well with him.

yep and the reason...Harden > Howard
I say that because A) Harden is younger, B) Harden is more consistent C) Harden may not even have touched his ceiling yet, D) Harden is not a baby, E) Harden isn't constantly dealing with injuries and missing games unless he gets decked by mr misnomer metta world peace, F) Harden is averaging tons more points

Dwight should sign with the spurs! :D

I dislike the guy, but I can't tell you how exited I'd be if he decided to play for the spurs. He is either staying in LA or going to H town tho

Miami should get rid of Bosh and sign Howard. Now that would be a move that would rock the NBA.

This move makes the most sense. At the end of the day I dont see Dwight leaving 30 million on the table. Getting Ellis (never met a shot he didnt like) for a broken down Gasol to keep Dwight happy, off sets keeping D'Antoni which doesnt make him happy. With Ellis and Kobe on he same team be a lot of chucking going on.

If Howard would agree to resigning with the Lakers, then I agree. Ellis would make the most sense because he's young enough, at a need position and even if D'Antoni were to stay (which I am dead against for all the good it does me), Ellis would fit D'Antoni's offense better. Now, the question of how many balls might be needed on the floor when you have Kobe and Ellis is a good one and I agree, that would need to be managed but heck, at this rate, the Lakers might need a gunner to replace Kobe in the Offense if his injury doesn't come around.

If Howard worked harder on improving his game then maybe coaches and teams would use him right. His game hasn't changed much since he has entered the league.

I think this is a good point Josee. Howard, for whatever reason, has not really improved as much as you would like to have seen and this is particularly true on the offensive side of the court. He could do himself a lot of favors if he would simply try to add to his offensive game. It's hard to take the ball out of the hands of a player like Kobe or any real superstar if you can't demonstrate that the move would be more beneficial.

Not sure that this is what you are saying but I agree with your posted statement.

for miami to get howard, the lakers would have to agree to a sign and trade for bosh, and either have howard take less to go to miami, or send another guy in the deal, like ray allen, to make the contracts work. i doubt the lakers would help anyone get howard tho, specially miami.

No, it would have to be a three way deal. The Lakers would not sign for Bosh because he's expensive and not very good. However, Howard could be an UFA after July 1st or whatever. At that point, he could sign anywhere so Miami would not necessarily have to trade for him. They would just have to find a way to free up cap and convince him.

Yep. Always bet the way of the most money.

Not sure I'd want him on my team, though, at least if you want to be a true contender.
