This weeks Sporting News has Merriman on the cover with the caption "Meet the NFL's New Monster" and also calls him a game plan wrecking stud. The article basically calls him a bigger, faster LT.

Oh well...Merriman can be the next LT if that's what the media wants...Mean while, Ware quitely makes a tremendous career of doing his job extreemely well and becomes a complete player.

What remains to be seen, is whether or not either one become a member of a championship team. One will be remembered as a great player, the other will be remebered for being a part of a championship defense...ala the 85 Bears or the 2000 Ravens.

Which is better is all up to that player...and of course their fans.

then they are basically announcing "we are a terrible fishwrap" to the world, becaus Merriman is not a bigger & faster LT...nor is he wrecking teams game plans...he really hasnt done much of anything the past two games...good player with alot of upside...but people are getting a little carried away...he isnt the multi-dimensional OLB that LT was, or even Demarcus Ware now...

No, actually Merriman even said he went to "take his head off", and was actually surprised that Heap didn't go down.

Not to get into a big Madden discussion, but the player ratings are not really based on stats. They're based mostly on the individual player characteristics, which are pretty subjective. Merriman may have a higher "awareness," (etc.) which isn't measured by stats really at all. Same reason TNew isn't rated very high, it's all about some computer programmers opinion of him.

Actually, this wasn't Merriman vs. Ware, Ware wasn't mentioned, lol.

The two will be compared for a long time, we should just get used to it and have fun watching it, instead of complaining every time it is brought up.

I know it is frequently talked about, but this is a message board, last I checked, we should be able to talk about things like this here.

Just have fun watching them both play, and don't get all upset if Ware is outperformed, we can't win every battle. Right now, they are close, watch and see what happens in the future.

I have to agree with Emmitswift. Right now, these two are no even close (1 sack vs 4 sacks). OK, Ware plays "run better", but that is not what we envision him. We have been looking for a pass-rusher since forever and Ware is simply not doing it right now.

I had high hope for Ware after his four games last year but he has been disappointing. He had a breakout game in carolina, but has had only two sacks in the rest FOURTEEN games.

We drafted the wrong player and it is due to Jerry Jones' fetish of small school players.
