Horrible??

Pete Hunter
Derek Ross
Alan Ball
Jacque Reeves
Mario Edwards
Dwayne Goodrich

There's your horrible list. If Claiborne emulates any of these players in some way, enlighten us.

Hey, now there's an idea.

I love both posts. I just can say it enough that this team needs to invest on a NT and another tackle, even another DE wouldn't hurt and no need for a splash, just keep drafting DL and OL and life will get better. I keep saying it, but if you run a 4-3 you need a at least 8 DL that can rotate and put pressure on the QB. This team really doesn't have good line play.

I was really excited about trading up to get Claiborne, because I thought he would be a great man coverage corner in Rob Ryan's scheme, but us moving to a tampa 2 4-3, I can't help but think that the guy is too soft and injury prone for this scheme. His value in this defense certainly dropped a notch in the change between systems. I really didn't want to think that Claiborne could be another Mike Jenkins, but that is exactly what he is looking like right now.

Obviously we'll have to wait and see how things develop for him over the course of the season, but I hope the front office is able to get the most value out of him if the time comes to trade him. Not only does he seem to not fit our scheme, but it looks as though we're bending our scheme towards his talents and playing a lot more man coverage than we probably would have otherwise.

We've put a lot of money into the idea of having cover corners, yet here we are still giving up a ton of yards on the pass. At some point we're going to have to shift funds from the secondary towards the defensive line in this scheme.

He needs to get stronger in his core and his upper body. I would like to see him just learn how to play in zone and though I know people will disagree, I still say he may be a better fit as a FS (perhaps later in his career if not sooner)

People must have really forgot what it looked like when we had a problem at the cornerback position. Today's game wasn't on Mo or the defense. The chiefs were held to 17 points. He got trucked today by Jamal Charles and he had the questionable pass interference. Other than that, he kept his guy covered. I don't know what you guys are expecting from a second year cornerback. If the refs didn't call pass interference, that would have been looked at as a great play.

All valid points, but I am just tired of so many easy completed passes that just seem like there wasn't a play on the ball, not just by Mo, but by all of the secondary. Rome wasn't built in a day. I hope that this defense will get better and that Kiffin will add something new that he hasn't done elsewhere. I don't want teams to know the book on the cowboy's defense better than the players do themselves.

We look at trying to fix our offensive line and how long that has taken, it's pretty frustrating to think about what it will take to build a proper defensive line.

Ware is 31, and likely we will see him play out his contract. Spencer, Ratliff, Hatcher? Probably all gone after this year.

But the good news is D Line is really the only area that needs money (or draft picks) thrown at it after this season. Think about the likely offseason moves for next year -

Miles Austin gets a contract renegotiation or is replaced by T Will or Harris.

Waters is likely a one year player at OG and replaced by a FA or draft pick (or maybe Arkin) after this year.

Wilcox and DeVonte Holloman likely move into starting roles next year replacing Will Allen and Durant.

That just leaves D Line. Specer, Rat and Hatcher could all be gone next year like you say but you have to think one or two do resign. No one is yelling "Championship" but it is a better position than the team was in 12 months ago.

I thought Mo played well today for what it's worth.

I did too and the funny thing is he wouldn't even be getting mentioned if not for the horrible PI call. The WR's for KC really didn't do much today. Mo made a play on the ball on that PI call and that is all you can ask for from your corners. Even the best corners in the league get called for PI and legit PI calls at that.
