Morris Claiborne will play in NFC Divisional Playoff, per team

The Dallas Cowboys are wearing a noticeable smile when it comes to Morris Claiborne.

The veteran hasn't played a snap since going down in the Oct. 30 battle with the Philadelphia Eagles, suffering a groin injury that also broke off a portion of his pelvic bone. He went through a full workout a few weeks ago but had "lingering effects", per owner Jerry Jones.

On Tuesday, the owner took to the airwaves with the beaming declaration that Claiborne would be on the field for the NFC Divisional Playoff on Jan. 15.

"Claiborne is going to be ready," said Jones in a matter-of-fact tone, via 105.3FM The Fan.

"Boy, that's impactful to our secondary."

For his part, Claiborne mirrored the sentiment prior to the regular season finale -- sounding every bit like a player chomping at the bit to get back on the field.

“That’s my goal,” Claiborne said of being back for the first ...

Hope Jerry is right. Would be a big boost to a defense that seemed to get stronger down the stretch.

Now if Lawrence and the rest of the DL can just get on the field and be productive.

I'll believe it when I see it. I also hope he will be playing at full strength since we know what he looks like when he's not.

Just curious, is he's good to start right away, or will he be used in a rotational type way, at least for the 1st gm he's back for. I'm assuming Dallas will play either NYG or GB and both teams have an elite WR group (even though NYG offense sucks right now).

This is something that has been puzzling me -- how the heck do you rehab from a groin injury that broke a portion of your pelvic bone off? Wouldn't that require surgery? Is that piece of bone not important? Maybe it isn't as bad as it sounds, but have no idea how this thing heals simply by resting it.

The return of Terrell McClain, DeMarcus Lawrence, Morris Claiborne, Cedric Thornton, Justin Durant and mixed with the play of currently producing elements, such as Sean Lee, Benson Mayowa, David Irving, Maliek Collins, and Byron Jones, has this fan pretty excited on potentials. The team is already tough against the run...and now!

The time off promotes body self healing...which was the route taken by the team. He should be fine.

This is the exact news that I've been waiting on for weeks now. It will certainly be of prime importance to get the benefit of whatever Mo Claiborne might have to offer in the playoffs. In the event he's anything remotely as effective as he was previous to his groin injury, it would most likely have quite a dramatic impact on this team's defensive secondary. This is the best news that I've heard so far this week. :)

Well, yes, I understand that the body can heal itself. It is a miraculous thing. However, in an instance where a piece of bone breaks OFF, I don't see how the body can simply heal from that? Where is that bone fragment, just floating around? How would it know to go back to the place it broke off from? What the heck is going on here??

I read somewhere recently that he will likely be used in a rotation, at least in his first game back. I don't think they would put him out there with the intent of playing every, or even most, snaps. He'll work his way back as the season (hopefully) progresses.

Just as with a broken bone, the built up/scar bone is thicker and stronger.

If a fragment creates diminishing pain, it would be quickly removed and him back on the field.
