Mort report... Jerry still wants McFadden

Ok....let's look at this in a positive manner.

If Jerry trades MBII, 22, and 28 for the first pick it wouldn't be the end of the world. Well, it almost would....losing a guy like MBIII would totally suck. But this isn't the same as spending two firsts on Galloway.

We'd still have a full compliment of picks: a first, second, third, fourth, etc... If McFadden is anywhere near the player he's supposed to be...if he's anywhere near the player Peterson is, then we have a possible franchise runner to pair with Owens and Romo.

The problem we'd run into would be filliing in needs at WR, CB, and OT. Fortunately, the draft is deep at corner.

I could live with this draft:
McFadden
DRC
Keenan Burton/Lavelle Hawkins/Donnie Avery/Adarius Bowman (who knows how far he'll fall?)

Or better yet, maybe we can even swing a deal to drop a couple of spots to still pick McFadden....doubtful.

In all honesty, I don't see this happening. I truly hope we stand pat with our first two picks. I would LOVE to see us somehow swing a deal with our second rounder for Roy Williams.

I would hate to see us gamble two first rounders and a pro-bowl player for McFadden. But JJ's a gambler....Higher the risk...higher the reward.

Two first rounders for McFad is not all that different than his last mistake with two first rounders for Galloway.

It's very different because Dallas would still be getting a first rounder in exchange (McFadden). So in reality, they would only be losing 1 pick instead of losing 2 picks for Galloway. Also, if you look at the value charts of the draft, Dallas would be getting away with a steal for only 2 first rounders for McFadden.

I'd join the doom and gloomers if they gave up Barber, but I don't see it happen.

Weak as it may be, it was equally reflected in your quoted post.

I am more than willing to admit that I am just talking smack.

Your buddy over there actually believes it.

99% sure that won't happen.

But for the Cowboys, I am all for it.

I'm sure you would be, but I know for a fact that JJ would not trade up that far for Run DMC.

Exactly....it's not the same.

The Galloway deal was bad because our team was getting older and we needed as much young talent as possible. Plus, we went two years without a first rounder.

We'd still have a first this year, and a first next year. As a matter of fact, we'd have a full slate of picks still this year.

Like YR, I don't like the idea, but I don't think it will.

Things that will probably happen in April.
1. Someone other than McFadden will be selected #1
2. Someone other than Dallas will make the #1 selection.

Trading the #1 overall pick is hard. Teams arent just aching to get their hands on it. Whoever the #1 overall pick is no matter the position he plays, will be the top money maker at his position in the LEAGUE. Russell last year got a deal in the 60's very close to Romo, and he is the 5th highest paid QB in the league. No team wants to give an unproven player that type of contract especially at injury prone RB position.

We will be looking at the 3rd pick in the draft by 2011 if this trade goes through.

Jerry is one of the worst pure football owners in the NFL. If this guy trades 2 firsts and a Top 10 back in the NFL for a back who may flop then I will never wear a Cowboys star again.

He needs a new headliner for that new stadium. Owens is on the way to stale popcorn.

Only time will tell. Pretty sure we can both agree on that.

Oh, and if it is a fact, give up sources.

Ok... so what foundation do you have to talk smack? because you won a playoff game in the last 11 years? If we want to go into something like that then... the last time we won playoff games we won the SB... only have to go back another year.... 12.

You guys really blew it...actually Moss blew it.... I could have easily seen the Skins ride there emotion and momentum and take the place of where the Giants are now.

Then what happens.... our Crayton pulls a friggin Moss on us.

Unfortunately for you... Collins is the best QB on your roster... he played more than well enough to win that game. His teammates let him down. But he is too old.

McFadden is a difference maker. Barber is not.

do it Jerry if you can

No Way!!!!!! MBIII has proven himelf for the cowboys!! He energizes our entire team every time he gets the ball, I would like to get like a Chris Johnson in the 2nd round but MBIII is legit how do we know that McFadden will be that good, MBIII has proven himself!!!

This is evident by his career stats over the last 2 years as a Dallas Cowboy?

or just "smack talk"? :lmao:

OK, if this is merely some BS Mort conjecture seeded by Parcells to gauge interest or sow discontent, then why hasn't Barber been resigned?

That alone tells me Jerry is seriously considering trading him as part of some kind of package for McFadden. Jerry is blinded by Superbowl lights reinforced by memories of Emmitt Smith leading him to multiple championships.

Yes... when Barber is in the game and getting extra yards = it makes NO difference in the game.

MBIII + Felix Jones with the 22nd pick >>>>>> DMac

even if i was somehow guaranteed that DMac was gonna be as good as LT i wouldnt make the trade just because of the heart and passion for the game that barber has and how contageous that is on the entire team, thas way more valuable than any stat can show (like ginobili). This way jerry gets his Arkansas fix and a player with his last name, in case he wants to wear a jersey to a game

So you are in the group that anoints TO as a Cowboy for life after 2 seasons ? And a HOF player based on 2 years ?
