Unlike alot of other teams the Cowboys have the other pieces to afford being able to trade a number 1 and a proven player for a talent like McFadden.

If McFadden is an Adrian Peterson type then it would be well worth it

It's very different because Dallas would still be getting a first rounder in exchange (McFadden). So in reality, they would only be losing 1 pick instead of losing 2 picks for Galloway. Also, if you look at the value charts of the draft, Dallas would be getting away with a steal for only 2 first rounders for McFadden.

I'd join the doom and gloomers if they gave up Barber, but I don't see it happen.

I hear ya and follow what you are saying.

But... its the same in the grand scheme of things. If McFadden gets hurts its the same result = 2 1st rounders gone and the player we got is off the field.

If he flat out blows then we missed out on building and filling holes that this team has.

I really want to take another back and a DB for S with our picks.

So you are in the group that anoints TO as a Cowboy for life after 2 seasons ? And a HOF player based on 2 years ?

Oh... so you are spinning... how original :laugh2:
Re-read my post. Dont spin it.

Now if you want to ask me if I think TO is a real Cowboy then ask... but dont spin an answer to something else.

I'm not in favor of moving up to #1 and its NOT because I'm against trading Barber for Mcfadden.....IF Dallas made such a move, there is not point in keeping Barber because Dallas can't afford both Mcfadden and Barber long term due to cap implications. Including Barber in the deal and giving up fewer picks would be wise.....

Personally, I don't think any RB is worth that kind of $$$, especially $30 Mil guaranteed....also, Dallas would likely fall short of meeting other needs (CB, WR) just to get one guy.

Mort has to have something to talk about, right?

Acquiring a #1 pick was more relevant before the salaries became so bloated that teams would rather not have them as it hamstrings their overall cap since the rookie pool gets inflated.

Not going to happen, folks. Barber and our picks mean much more to us.

You're a traitor just like Gibbs. Now go back into your hole.

A fan can't be objective about their own team making suspect moves?

No, I've just lost all respect for Joe Gibbs not decrying the raping and pillaging of his assistant coaches by Snyder. Gibbs went on and on about continuity, now Snyder fires everyone and Gibbs doesn't speak about how wrong and two faced Snyder is for it. Gibbs should be speaking out on principle IMO.

I'm also no longer a Commanders fan as long as Snyder is owner. I will watch the games when I can but I will no longer attend games or buy merchandise, and I certainly won't be as invested in the team.

WCO offense for the Washington Commanders just doesn't wash with me. The guy (Snyder) is playing fantasy football with the team I love and I'm glad I won't ever run into him in person because even sober I would have a tough time not wanting to punch him hard in the nose.

We don't need McFadden or the exorbitant price tag that comes with him. We need to find our version of Ahmad Bradshaw--a mere 7th rounder.

At times...I really hate the off season. 90 days until the Draft = 90 more threads about acquiring McFadden.

:bang2:

My friend if it stays at 90 threads and doesn't go over I will consider myself a very fortunate forum reader

The only way I consider that trade, is if it is just the one first round pick and Barber. I assume that it would be #22. I really doubt that would be enough for Miami to consider it. But giving away more picks just doesn't make sense from the Cowboys standpoint. Now including players like Carpenter/Spears would be more like it.

cowboy pick + pro bowl RB =younger HALL OF FAME RB
I will do that trade in a heart beat

Yes... when Barber is in the game and getting extra yards = it makes NO difference in the game.

I don't understand why some are defending Barber when a year ago at this time many considered him inferior to Julius Jones.

Not singling you out as I never kept track of who was in who's camp, but I think it is amusing that now Barber is someone deserving of being clutched to the bosom when all he did this year was what he did last season with less opportunity.

This is the first in a long-series of reports about how Coach Parcells will want to move the choice. And I would assume we will be linked to most, if not all, of them. I guess some will welcome the spice to the normally dull offseason, but I am already very very tired of hearing the name Darren McFadden. This has been going on for nearly a year.

Maybe we wouldn't be talking about mcfadden as much if we could win a playoff game

this team needs to get better

MBIII + Felix Jones with the 22nd pick >>>>>> DMac

even if i was somehow guaranteed that DMac was gonna be as good as LT i wouldnt make the trade just because of the heart and passion for the game that barber has and how contageous that is on the entire team, thas way more valuable than any stat can show (like ginobili). This way jerry gets his Arkansas fix and a player with his last name, in case he wants to wear a jersey to a game

I have no doubt Jones sees a marketability angle in McFadden. I can only imagine the boost to jersey sales he would have right after the draft.

Barber might be a good back, but he's not exactly marketable. He doesn't talk much, he's a team player and keeps a low profile.

And what would make this team better?

A solid cover cornerback to pair with Newman, a strong compliment to Marion Barber better than Julius Jones and a young WR to take the torch from Owens or a one-trick pony running back who never carried the load to begin with?
