Mosley: Steve Smith of Giants is almost better than Roy Williams

Mosley's rationale is suspect. Using his sort of argumentation, any of the NFC East WRs can be dismissed.

He's free to think that one or the other will do better this year, but he can't back it up (apparantly) without suffering foot-in-mouth disease. Definitely one thread to keep saved for later year checking up.....

This is why Matt Mosley needs to be punched in the throat.

A total and complete lack of logic.
It is so bad that will seep in and infect other minds.

No current NFCE WR can be called a "1000 yd" WR if the criteria is they do it a majority of their career. None.

You want to call Santana Moss better??
Ok, feel free to do so but do not hide behind stats, because the same stats you want to ridicule RW with apply to Moss. Moss has 1 1000 yard season in the past 3. He's made the same single Pro Bowl and played on mediocre at best teams.

RW11 also has 1 1000 yd receiving season in his last 3. Also has 1 he 1 Pro Bowl, the same mediocre team success at best and similar career averages in yards, yards per catch and TDs per season.

Steve Smith of the Giants has 1 career TD and has never reached 700 yards receiving. And minus Plaxico Burress he hit 50 yards receiving 1 time.

The Steve Smith thing is typical east coast jock sniffing that Mosley does now as he has been befriending Giants player sin his usual lickfest manner.

Mosley should be quarantined.

Could DeSean JAckson be better? Sure he could. But he has questions same as RW. Can Jackson get along with Donovan? Can he stay out of trouble? Can he handle a full season in the NFL at best 185 pounds?

Steve Smith = Patrick Crayton not RW.
Yep.

And the problem is, and this is how it goes these days, that these writers like Mosley believe they are somehow great judges of football talent. So they they dig in a position and then look for evidence to support themselves, no matter how flimsy it may be. And when it's proven that they were wrong, they get fans calling them out about how wrong they were, and they get defensive and get even more hostile towards the home team.

Maybe these guys should be a little more objective and not make such sweeping statements so early before things have played out.

But yeah -- Mosley, being from Dallas, basically had to kiss up to the other teams in the division and go out of his way to prove he wasn't some Dallas homer. But he's gone way overboard. It reminds me a little of Gosselin, in a way.

Steve Smith is in an offense that establishes the run, and uses play-action all the time.

Guess what Mosley.. We also run a Mike-Martz type offense...

Oh. My. God. :bang2:

Keep picking us third. I love it. The Cowboys have no shot.

How will they ever compete?

Marion Barber 13-16 carries; 3-5 passes
Felix Jones 12-15 carries; 3-5 passes; some kickoffs
Jason Witten (The best tightend in the NFL.)
Martellus Bennett (A dangerous under-used weapon last year)

I just listed four other options that can take the pressure off Roy Wiliams. Williams will get his.

Miles Austin
Patrick Crayton
Tashard Choice

Let's go.

Let's play.

We'll play you at an elementary school.

Name the place.

We'll bring Tony Romo, Andre Gurode, Leonard Davis, DeMarcus Ware, Terence Newman, Mike Jenkins, Orlando Scandrick, Jay Ratliff, Bradie James, and friends.

We'll put our offense out there, and your offense will have to face Terence Newman, Mike Jenkins, and Orlando Scandrick in coverage.

New safeties Gerald Sensabaugh and Micheal Hamlin will take care of some rookie TE from Florida (Have they ever had a great skill player in the NFL since Spurrier and Myer?) and Kevin Boss.

Anthony Spencer is going to be a force on the strongside. Watching him actually get to play on third down will enable him to fully develop and destroy the 3 sack total of his rookie year. He's going to get his.

Jason Williams is going to play a little north and south football. You will be seeing him tally up some sacks. Can't wait. Someone is going to get hit at the very least. Two more rookies could get into the action (Brandon Williams and Victor Butler). A little Cowboys package might see someone get jacked up by a rookie. Stephen Hodge may end up being the guy putting the blanket on Chris Cooley or Brian Westbrook. He can get pressure on the quarterback. Some of these guys are going to make a difference. These are the types of players which put you over the top.

Have fun blocking DeMarcus Ware, the real NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

I'm talking to the Eagles new LT (Jason Peters) and his 11.5 sacks he gave up last year and the Giants LT (David Deihl) who got destroyed in the second game last year. Tom Coughlin better get that rookie ready fast.

Playing these three players is going to be like deploying three number one draft picks. Oh, wait. They are number one draft picks.

1. Felix Jones
2. Mike Jenkins
3. Anthony Spencer

The gloves are coming off.

Bring it.

:hammer: I completley agree with every overly optimistic word in that post.

Sadly, I agree with him, Williams is an average WR with a TON of pressure on him.

I hope not but Im seeing bad trade written all over it too.The guy isnt fast at all.He is better suited like a Keyshawn Johnson possession type WR.

If the star qb doesn't want to take that fighting mentality your talk on the net means nothing actually.

Oh, I totally follow this logic. It's unfair to say Roy Williams is a 1,000 yard reciever because he's only had 1 year over a thousand. His average per 16-game-season (before his year with us, which is certainly an outlier) is 1,062 yards (Total Yards (3652) / Years (4) x Potential games (64) over played games (55) )... so why is it going out on a limb to call Roy Williams a 1,000 yard reciever?
So Roy Williams earns the benefit of not only disregarding his worst season but also coming up with some potential yards stat based on injury? That's a huge spin cycle to get RW up to 1000 yards a season.

His talk on the net will still mean nothing no matter what Romo does.

You would think these guys would learn to have more information before they consistently put themselves out on a limb only to watch it break.

i love the guy spinning Roy W's stats to make him a one yard receiver. Love it.
FACT - he has ONE 1000 yard season. Out of five seasons. FACT.

Spin it, coat it in sugar, dress it up in little pink ribbons. It is what it is. A guy that should have put up better numbers than he has. If he doesnt do it this season for is, he is what his numbers state. Average.

All you spin artists, give up. People can see through your bias crappola. I'm willing to call him what he is, but i'm willing to give him this year to prove he's better than that.

The other Steve Smith does. So does Reggie Wayne, Calvin Johnson, etc.

Several WRs have done so, at least far more than Roy Williams.

Why give up when you can extrapolate his average per game and simply multiply it by "potential" games and pretend it is not?

I don't know if Steve Smith is a fair comparison because there was a time when Williams was amongst the top four or five WR's in the league. Now if he wants to talk about the real Steve Smith in Carolina then it's not even close, Williams couldn't hold his jock strap.

Either way, I have little to no faith in Williams right now and really don't think he's even a top ten WR at this juncture. Hopefully he shuts everyone up (including myself) this season and shows that he was worth every penny/draft pick.
