Most of the teams ahead of us in the draft have good DLs

I think that is very good news for us. Last year, everyone ahead of us needed OL so we got the last good one. If you look at the teams above us this year though, we may be able to nip the 3rd best d-lineman in the draft. I hate that it's the offseason I'm just trying to find something encouraging. With that said, I don't really watch the NCAA. Can someone post some realistic lineman that may be around at the 16 mark?

The hype around him is so crazy but I would hate for Clowney to drop to us. I just don't like anything he stands for and that's the type of player we do not need in this locker room.

I think he is way overhyped. But as to the OP - good news if many teams above us dont go D-Line

I don't think anyone has to worry about Clowney falling all the way to 16.

But is interesting that him falling at all is even in the conversation.
Anyone recall all the talk ealier this year aboout who was going to win the Clwoney sweepstakes and that teams would be throwing games or hoarding 1st round picks to trade up and get him. I recall more than a few of us saying it's a year away and lot can (and usually does) change.

I still bet he goes very early though, but the once in a generation type talk is gone.

He has flop written all over him. But as high as he is on most draft boards....if he fell to us at 16? I think you have to take him. That being said, someone will bite on him in the top 5 and i'd hate to be that GM because if he's a bust? Your job is probably in danger or over.

Oh yeah but he screwed that up. He didn't have a good season and he wouldn't even suit up some games in fear of getting hurt. So is that what a team is going to have to put up wtih in his contract year? That type of selfishness? I can't have on my team. Especially a team who's picking early. But someone will bite. Rams can probably afford to take the risk. I wouldn't if I were them.

But don't you think at least one or two teams will bite very early anyway?

Oh I know they will. Like I said above, I think Rams are a good candidate to do so with the 1st rounders they have. Someone will bite. When Bridgewater is off the board I think Clowney is next to go. And he may transition well to the pros.....but that type of athlete I don't invest in early. But he's a top 5 pick minimum. No doubt in my mind. Would've been the 1st pick had he not screwed it up.

I wonder if Clowney's recent run ins with the law effect his stock. If he's there at 11-13 picks, do we trade up for him?

DTs projected in the range are:
Louis Nix - Had some bad games this year
RaShede Hageman - Physical freak but limited production
Stephon Tuitt

DEs are sketchy in that range. You have the top 10 DE and the next tier seems to be late 1st round.

OL appears to be load in that range.

Dallas seems to be relatively competent at finding good players over the last several years for the DL. We just either don't do it that often, or we don't keep them.

Don't fall for the gumption of the assumption that most teams are like us: that we are satisfied ever year with our veterans.
In the real world of the NFL, teams keeps changing their rostes because of character issues, pay, performance, etc.
We, in turn, keep the Ratliffs and Hatchers around because Jerra develops man crushes on some.
So look for the others to jump at the chance to draft good linemen.
We, in turn, are too easily satisfied with our perennial, perfunctory, persnippity personnel.

Nope. If he fell in our laps take him in a heartbeat, but otherwise wait there is DL talent in this draft that will be available at 16/17.

So in your estimation nothing to get overly excited about. Though Poe seems to be coming into his own he was one of those raw physical guys

Why would I be worried about defense when Marinelli can pick them... the probem with ths defense was primarily injuries and personnel that was picked for a 3-4. it was the first year. This offense is what blows.

I think Nix and Tuitt had bad games early because they weren't healthy/in shape. HOWEVER, I think Nix in the middle of ANY Dline (3-4 OR 4-3) immediately improves the play of others because of the attention he commands. Ask Carolina how much they love Lotulelei now......................................
