List your most respected and hated players from the NFCE teams, including your own team.

Commanders

Respected: Clinton Portis
He's fast, tough, unselfish, funny, and is one of the best overall RBs in football. Plus he's only 24.

Hated: Taylor Jacobs
One of the few holdovers from the Spurrier era. He's a huge underachiever, is always hurt, and asked to come out of the game at Philly last year with a tummy ache. I can't wait til August so that he'll be cut.

Cowboys

Respected: Jason Witten
Big, tough, and intelligent TE that's going to be producing at a high level for a long time. One of the best.

Hated: Bill Parcells
Since Keyshawn is gone, I can't really say that I hate any of the Boys' players. Of course, I hate them collectively, but no one sticks out. I wish Roy Williams was in the AFC, but I can't say that I hate him. However, I have hated Parcells since he was a NYG, and many of you probably felt the same way until he became a Cowboy. Maybe it's an act, but he comes across as a despicable person. He's coarse with the media and treats his players like objects.

Giants

Respected: Tiki Barber
Great overall football player from my alma mater - UVA (actually had a few classes with him). He's also a wonderful person and generous philanthropist. I don't know how anyone wouldn't like this guy.

Hated: Jeremy Shockey
Easiest choice on this entire list. I hated his attitude at Miami and it only got worse once he got to New York. My second favorite play from last season was when Lemar Marshall intercepted a pass thrown to him and Shockey didn't even know what was happening because he was complaining to the referee about contact that he, himself initiated. Shockey is white trash!

Eagles

Respected: Donovan McNabb
He absolutely killed the Skins (pre-Gibbs.2) and I still couldn't bring myself to dislike Donovan. Every week he puts up with the disgraceful fans from Philly and obviously has a ton of character after putting up with the boos on draft day and during his rookie year. I also love how he handled the TO situation. He truly came out as the larger man.

Hated: Jeremiah Trotter
One of the biggest FA busts in Commanders history. He was absolutely worthless when he was in DC. Then he returns to the team that he badmouthed for 2 years and acts like he never deserted them. I really hate him though because he is highly overrated and just talks too damn much!

I would actually reverse your assessments of the Eagles. Although i dont like the way Trotter plays against us, i respect his intensity and passion to win. McNabb on the other hand, couldnt handle TO.

The only guy on the Commanders i ever respected was darrell green, other than that hate for them is a dime a dozen.

Commanders

Respected: I respect some players for their ability, not sure there is anyone in particular I respect for other than their athletic ability. For me it is just hard to think of anyone in a good light except for someone who is no longer there. D. Green, the ageless wonder, was just a great person, player and I have always had a huge amount of respect for him. He was just class.

Hated: Sean Taylor. Without a doubt he is a straight up Punk. Off the field issues, lack of respect for the NFL and spitting on players.

Cowboys

Respected: Jason Witten. Playing with a broken jaw showed me he was Old School.

Hated: I don't hate anyone on the cowboys, I have a strong dislike for TO. I did not like Deion either when he was here. Although I have huge respect for the ability of each of those two players.

Giants

Respected: Tiki Barber
Very good player, just comes across as a hard worker and likeable guy. I think seeing him do a very good job on his side job (part time on a morning cable news show) has made me like him more because he is far from just being a jock.

Hated: Jeremy Shockey
Pretty much can't stand the guy.

Eagles

Respected: Brian Dawkins.
I just think he is a tough nose old school type of guy and respect his game.

Hated: Well he is not there now but I think recently it would have to been Freddie Mitchell. A man that did so little for a team yet said so much.
He talked the talk but could not even crawl when trying to walk.

Cowboys:

Respected: Drew Bledsoe. The guy brings it week in week out and is a professional. Of course he's been well-paid over his career, but the man's a competitor. There are many in second place.

Disliked: Jason Ferguson. Not hate really but major disappointment with his performance. I worry that the rumors of his dogging it after getting a big payday are true.

Giants:

Respected: Tiki Barber. He's among the very best at what he does and has made himself into a great player.

Disliked: Eli Manning. From his goofy mouth to his over-hyped and slightly above-average talent to his hiding behind his family. Can't stand him.

Washington:

Respected: Joe Gibbs. The best in the league before he retired and still very good despite his ridiculous giggling. Understands that you must try to win in all phases of the game-- ST's, passing, running, and defense. A real winner.

Disliked: Sean Taylor. Have some class man, leave the gun in its cabinet and the saliva in your mouth.

Philadelphia:

Respected: Brian Dawkins. Best safety in the league by far. Classy, Hall of Fame calibre player whom I wish played for almost anyone else.

Disliked: Donovan McNabb. From his panic attack-meltdowns during big games to his lack of accuracy to his Chunky soup commercials and hiding behind his race. Can't deny his talent, but don't like him.

Interesting thread idea. I'm going to add a twist and add all time.

Cowboys...

Respected...Jason Witten. What can you say about a guy who plays with his jaw wired shut? Brass ones.

All time most respected...Emmitt Smith. The Giants game with the shoulder separated still just gives me chills.

Disliked...truthfully right now it's Greg Ellis. The team is trying to come together and he's trying to pull away.

All time disliked...Robert Thomas. If he cashed his game checks he's a thief.

Giants...

Respected...Tiki Barber. Gotta give credit to a guy who corrects a fumbling habit.

All time respected...Lawrence Taylor. IMO the best defensive player to ever play the game.

Disliked...There really aren't any but I'm going to say Michael Strahan because of Favre laying down to give him the season sack record.

All time disliked...Frank Gifford. I never saw him play but I just don't care for the guy. Maybe it's because of his wife. I don't know.

Eagles...

Respected...Brian Dawkins. Really a great leader.

All time respected...Reggie White. The best DE I ever saw.

Disliked...Again there really isn't one, but I'm going to say David Akers because he's a kicker.

All time disliked...Andre Waters. I just couldn't stand him.

Commanders...

Respected...Shawn Springs. His dad was a Cowboy. Need I say more?

All time respected...Darrell Green. Not enough class guys like that in the whole world.

Disliked...Sean Taylor. Spitting on people earns instant disrespect in my book. he's a jerk.

All time disliked...Is there any doubt? Joe Theisman. The most annoying man in football.

Skins:

RESPECTED: Marcus Washington. Plays hard every down, is a force all over the field, doesn't say much of anything and doesn't get into trouble.

HATED: Daniel Snyder. Put it this way, I've heard some pretty evil stuff about the guy. Just ask Lav Coles.

GIANTS

RESPECTED:
Tiki. First of all, he usually doesn't play all that well against Dallas for some reason. He had a great game against us in 2004 and was solid in the second game last year, but generally he doesn't kill Dallas. Very underrated and I love it when people think that Portis is as good or better than Tiki then I pull out the stats between the two over the last 4 years and 2 years and Tiki smokes Portis, cold.

HATED: Lavar - Reminds me of one of those guys who is an impressive athlete that has an obsession with trying to prove how smart he is. Things like not allowing Madden to use his name on his video game and going on "Dream Job" and lashing out on one of the guys that made a slight error on an NFLPA issue. Plus...and I don't care what anybody says....he usually plays very well against Dallas.

EAGLES

RESPECTED: Sheldon Brown. A real fine QB that gets jobbed come Pro Bowl time and never really complains. All he wants to do is win.

HATEDPhilly Fans. This may be out players and coaches, but once they cheered Irvin almost getting killed, I find a lot of them to be utterly repulsive.

Cowboys:

Respected: Bradie James. I get the feeling he's a very intelligent player, and
is going to lead their defense on and off the field for years to
come.

Hated: TO. I hate his narcissism, and how he's able to get away with it
because of his physically prowess and talent. I also hate the extra
dimension he gives the Dallas offense next year.

Giants:

Respected: Tiki Barber. What he was able to do last year was amazing,
he must have a superb offseason conditioning program. Classy
guy off the field as well.

Hated: Lavar Arrington. He told Skins fans he would rather retire then play
for another team, then *****es about the organization to the media.

Eagles:

Respected: Jimmy Johnson. Coaches a very agressive defense that is never
pleasant to play against, turnovers are always a big concern.

Hated: Jeremiah Trotter. He did jack **** when he left the Eagles for the
Commanders, then becomes an All Pro again for the Eagles.

Eagles ...

Wouldn't say your analysis is foolish ...but I do disagree. Anyway, it was never McNabb's job to "handle" TO! Dawkins (#20) ...he's our version of Roy Williams (#31).

Commanders ...

Gibbs should be an ICON in Washington DC because he didn't have to come back. Gibbs already made his mark and had nothing to prove.

Cowboys ...

Roy Williams ... a hard hitting aggressive mauler; he's a warrior!

Giants ...
Strahan (#92) is another beast in the East .. he'll show up for 60 minutes of official playing time.

Cowboys:

Respected: Drew Bledsoe. He's just such a great leader and face of the team. He knows how to be the focal point of the most well known sports franchise in the world and to not only do it justice, but to make Cowboy fans proud. One tough cookie too. Runner up: Terry Glenn. Goes about his business quietly and plays full tilt all the time. Overcame a serious bump in his career to play very well the last couple of years.

Disliked: Hard to dislike any Cowboys... but I guess the answer would be TO. He's arrogant as all get out and he has been a shmuck in the past. Will he change? I hope so.

Giants:

Respected: Strahan. I do like Tiki too (who doesn't), but Strahan has been a professional ever since he walked into the NFL. A very good player who doesn't take himself too seriously.

Disliked: Shockey, I guess. He's just so dang annoying.

Washington:

Respected: Salave'a. He does the dirty work in the middle and gets next to no respect. He's darn good against the run and plays very well within William' system.

Disliked: Joe Gibbs. Hypocrit. Not shaking Parcells hand after losing to him says volumes about what a poor loser he is. Talks like class and dignity after a loss is very important and then shows himself to be such a poor sport. No wonder Parcells didn't shake his hand last year... but Parcells doesn't pretend to go to church 8 days a week. But the reason Gibbs made this list is because of his incessant whining after every Commanders loss. It's always someone elses fault that he lost the game. The officials have it out for him or some crazy notion like that.

Philadelphia:

Respected: Jim Johnson. Great, great defensive coordinator who is mostly responsible for the Eagles playoff run of the early 2000's. Innovative and aggressive. I'd love to have him as the Cowboys DC.

Disliked: Donovan McNabb. Chunky McBarf always is playing the race card... and that is enough to get him on this list even without his cocky nature and propensity for choking during big games.

Liked Giants : Mark Bavaro, he was better than most TEs in the league right now. He made the plays he was supposed to and blocked exceptionally well. Honorable mention to LT, Harry Carson, and Phil McConkey (sP?).

Like Giants : Amani Toomer's first year with the team he ran back 2 or 3 punts and one or 2 KRs in the preseason. From the first time I saw this guy until now he has remained a solid player. Honorable mention to Tiki.

Disliked Giants : Phil Simms, this guy was the definition of a bus driver QB. There were very few times that this guy impressed me as a QB.

Dislike now Giants : Shockey, pretty much a no brainer. Also, Eli Manning, this guy has almost as much hype as Vick without the athletic potential. Yet he will have time to show what he can do. I still cant get the image out of my head of how this guy basically cried his way onto another team.

I will do the rest later, too many drinks.

Eli at least put up 24 TD passes to 17 ints as a 2nd year player and his 1st full season as a starting QB. I agree he gets a lot of hype but any QB who in his 1st full season is putting up 24 TD to 17 ints I would consider that a pretty big achivement and his play should only improve with experiance.
