Denver couldn't have done this to romo
Of course not. Romo would have been in the hospital after the first quarter. Can't embarrass someone who's not around to embarrass, that role would have fallen to Romo's backup.

I'm sorry, but for me, this is a continuation of how I felt after the playoff game last season... I still feel like it was a mistake not to play Romo once he was healthy last season... And if we had played Romo, then maybe we actually beat the Packers, and Romo would probably still be the starting QB in 2017, and I personally think this offense would've been better with Romo under center.

It's too late for all of that now, but I still say we screwed up what was the best QB situation in the NFL.

Don't see how when both those teams are better than the broncos.

The Packers aren't better than the Broncos. Their defense will be average at best and their offense goes as Rodgers goes.

KC is probably a bit better because their offense is more explosive, but their defense as a whole isn't as strong.

Not sure what your issue with Heath is except he slipped on the Anderson catch and run for the score. I thought he was one of the better defenders overall today.

Just like in 2013? Oh wait…

Can you Romo fanboys please go start a Romo-only message board and daydream how he could've won today, last season again Green Bay, slain Darth Vader, whooped Rocky, kicked Superman's arse and created the heavens?

That's the fantasy world some of you live in.

Romo had the game of his life in 2013 against the Broncos. That's like the worst example you could bring up.

No... it's a fan expressing frustration.

I'm not begrudging him. I'm just commenting on the tone. It's like one of the Facebook posts that reads "99 percent of you won't share this, but I know who my real friends are." If there was ever a loss to bemoan, it's this one.

Dez is fine. We are just way too predictable. We do need the type of coaching/leadership that would demand he run better and more consistent routes.

Dak didn't really play horrible to me. Denver took away his biggest asset, Zeke. I just don't think the offense and coaching can make adjustments. It's almost as if you take away something that Garrett/Linehan wanted to focus on, they just accept it, and hope it works next week.

The whole defense played bad but I've seen a few posters call out Jaylon. Maybe I just didn't notice it but I felt the biggest culprits were the defensive line, who couldn't stop anyone today and outside of Lawrence early, no one could pressure the QB. The Secondary is one of the bottom 5 secondaries in the league and many of us knew that going into the season. Byron is always late. Heath is a zero. Brown is a grabber. Lewis looks a step slow but he also deserves some slack since today was his first game action in quite a while. Woods and Frazier seem lost.

My take on Dak wasn't just from this game. It was from first two games of this year and last years games against Giants & Eagles. I think he really struggles (like most QBs) against good defenses. That tells me he probably isn't elite. Thats ok as long as they have great running game & defense. Need to take some chances on D FA tier 1 this off season. They have the money. Plus they have 14 more games to evaluate those rookie DB.

Nonsense. Give any player a year in the S&C program and a year to study and that player will be more advanced than he would being a true rookie.

Jaylon Smith is not a rookie. Neither is Charles Tapper.

I don't care what they are. 1 year or 2 year....they are still relatively young players in this league. What are you even arguing here? That they aren't rookies? Ok........they are 2nd year guys who have never played in the NFL...that means the game is suppose to come easy to them in the 2nd week of the season?

1. Dez is no longer elite WR. NE has proven you don't really need true #1 if QB play is exceptional. So I am not totally alarmed that he is tier 2 WR at this stage. What does concern me is $17mill price tag.

2. Teams have adjusted to Dak. He might not be top QB we all hoped for but I still see guy fighting to very end. Thats good enough for me as long as their RB & DEF is good.

3. Jaylon Smith was really bad. I can't believe people aren't talking about this. Maybe its just such a feel good story no one wants to discuss it. I watched him very closely. Can't shed blockers, was sitting back and waiting for RB to initiate contact. Might be seeing some muscle fatigue as I saw him literally crumble to ground chasing RB. To be fair Lee and entire defense looked slow and tackled poorly. But I do believe this defense needs Hitchens back.

4. Tank is really good when healthy.

5. I am done with Jeff Heath.

Sorry this couldn't be more positive but this is where I am at right now.

I agree somewhat on Dez but I don't think he has to be a true #1. He is good enough, if he competes. He gave up in this game and that is a huge sin to me.

Dak isn't the problem, at least not today. The OL didn't block anyone in the run game and rarely gave Dak time in the pocket. The only really elusive receiver we have is Beasley and he elusive because of his quickness, not because he is fast. He gets open a lot but he doesn't get much RAC. The game plan and playcalling were awful. Why did you leave Dak in the pocket against one of the best pass rushing teams in the league? No misdirection, no boot legs...nothing to change up the defense's path.

I didn't really pay that much attention to Jaylon, because it seemed like no one was really doing anything positive outside of Lawrence and maybe Lee. I don't think Jaylon was close to being the worst on the field from a defensive standpoint. He was a little slower not sure if it has to do with injury or rust, but the rust excuse isn't going to last forever. He has not been a sure tackler so far.

Tank had a good game, that is two back to back. Hope he keeps it up. Damontre Moore should be back this week and hopefully adds a spark to the pass rush.

I don't think HEath was nearly as bad as most everyone else in the secondary. He actually had a couple nice stops and a pass defense or two.

Here are the other things that stood out to me.

1. Stephen Paea and Maliek Collins were invisible. 2 total tackles, one solo and it was the tackle behind the line late in the game by Paea. These two were supposedly unblockable during training camp going against Frederick and Martin. Now they are speed bumps. Crawford was slightly better. Tapper seemed a little more active than the rest, and Charlton didn't play all that much and didn't do much when he was in there. Benson Mayowa played like he did last year before getting benched. He didn't do anything positive the entire game. Ron Leary had more tackles than Paea and Collins combined.

2. Byron Jones was putrid today, in every phase of the game. Horrible angles, half assed effort, terrible coverage. That was miserable. People pick on Heath but he made some decent hits, popped a ball out and did ok in coverage. He did get burned for a TD when he slipped, but a safety on Sanders is a joke anyway.

3. I will never understand going long with WR for this game when Scandrick was already out and leaving Benwikere on the inactive list. The rest of the secondary are rookies that have been dealing with injuries. Just inexplicable.

4 Elliott is not right. He didn't look great last week but we were able to keep slamming the ball up the gut and it was a somewhat effective day. Today he was just a slug and it was all day long. Just turning and watching the interception that went off Dez' hands was a really bad look. He then was walking around the backfield when we were in hurry up. I don't care if you are having a bad day. Sometimes you just don't have it, but you still give effort. Dez did the same on the Talib interception. Dak held him up long enough that a WR should have been able to catch up to Talib if they were running.

5. Collins just got wore out in the last 7-8 minutes trying to block Miller who was in pin your ears back mode. I don't really blame him for giving up heat late; when Miller doesn't even have to consider playing the run there isn't a better pass rusher in the league. Frederick and Martin got no push at all in the run game. Will have to watch Green and Smith, I know they weren't great but didn't specifically focus on them. Smith was probably the best of a bad performance.

All around game that you just have to shut the door on. Probably no benefit in watching the tape as it was so bad. On to Arizona.

Teams havent "adjusted" to Dak. Great defense make quarterbacks look bad more often than not. Aaron Rodgers had a MUCH worse game last year against Denver. And New York is almost as good.

After next week, we only play two more defenses all year with elite talent.
Denver has now gone 23 straight games at Mile High holding opposing QB under a 100 rating. That includes 3 games against Brady.

This was a game where the running game needed to show its dominance, and that didn't happen.

I want to agree with a lot of this but I struggle to get past the second paragraph where you basically absolve Prescott of blame. He was bad. Why do people struggle with that concept?

Doesn't mean he's a bad QB or his career is over. He had a real bad game today. There is nothing wrong with admitting that.

Jaylon is a rookie. A lot of those guys out there were rookies. A lot of those guys were 2nd year guys......you rant and rave about having youth.....but when that youth looks like....youth....you are in trouble.
Good point, but Jay Jay looks like he can't move in the directions he really would like to move like he'd like to.
It's glaring.

He didn't seem to have that issue last week. He seems to have been caught up in the general suckiness that plagued every defender on the team other than maybe Lawrence.

It was interesting and depressing to see multiple defenders hit each other out of plays over and over the 1st 2 quarters like they were the Keystone Cops...

Made me wonder what the heck was going on.
