MRSA staph infections--any Dr.'s on the board?

I was diagnosed with a MRSA staph infection about 2 months ago. I was wondering if there were any people in the medical field who may have advice or might be able to point me towards some resources.

I've had this for 2 months, and am just now realizing the size and scope of this thing.

Any useful information would be helpful.

For any of you who don't know what it is, you really do need to know. If you have kids, or are in sports... you need to know.

This "super bug" is commonly found in locker rooms and amongst athletes like wrestlers and football players.

The infection so far has been on my skin... but I fear that it could travel to other places. Basically, what i've read from all of this is that it's not a pretty thing to have--potentially fatal, which is a thrill at 31.

I just want to raise awareness with this thread. It's real, and it's getting more common. The NFL is taking precautions, because it's passed from skin to skin contact.

Google MRSA, and wash your hands.

Any input or resources would be helpful as well.

...that will take care of the problem. If you are athletically inclined take care to inspect your clothing and equipment for any sharp edges that may scuff or abrade your skin.

Get your equipment laundered/steam cleaned or at the very least wiped down with an antibacterial solution regularly.

If you get an abrasion or cut during athletic activity get an anti bacterial ointment on it immediately.

If it is in your system already follow the other links that were provided by previous posters. Good luck.
