Murray is gone because the top RB prospect is available

First... Murray will be back if he doesn't get too greedy. If he is intent on signing with the highest bidder he is most likely gone. I think the upper limit of what he will be offered in Dallas is a 5 year $35M deal. The one thing I feel strongly about is it's time to cut bait with Joseph Randle. The Cowboys don't need the headaches he causes from his off field antics.

Next... Ryan Williams is a more than capable RB that the Cowboys have confidence in so much that they just gave him a bonus to stick around.

Lastly... Drafting a RB before the 3rd round is highly unlikely IMO, considering the need to fill large holes in the defense.

I ask all you rb in the first rounders a question... Would picking up Gordon or Gurley in the first make us a better team than last year... Or would picking up a DE or a Safety make us a better team...

Your option 2 would be good except I don't feel as if there will be any catalytic DE's left at 27 who could start game 1.
Jerry is not going to draft a DT in round 1 period as that won't satisfy the sexy mantra.
RB is the only choice when you figure that a special guy might probably be there at 27. You don't pass up the next
Adrian Peterson for a backup DE.

So the next Adrian Peterson is gonna fall to #27.

Gurley would be a good test of the best player available theory for me. Really tough to pull the trigger on a first round RB. The guy has to be legitimately a potential star at that position to consider it, and then if you don't have a pass rusher there.

But I think we go through with the plan to let the market tell us what Murray gets. Unless we get Dez done before then and then Transition Demarco. And that's really the right move here.

I can't call anyone coming off a blown knee as a can't miss prospect.

I also have an issue with the issues we face on defense, blowing a first round pick on a TB.

Blowing? A potential blue chip replacement RB is blowing the pick.

Ok, if you could have Beast Mode or one Seattle's defensive lineman, who would you take?

I would be ok with Gurley at 27 if they think he's that special.

There are two ways Dallas can do this:

1. Sign Murray and then draft DL help

or

2. Let Murray go, spend that money in Free Agency on DL help and draft a replacement for Murray.

I'm ok with either one actually. I'd rather the big money be sunk on the DL than at RB, but I really like Murray so I won't complain if they resign him.

IMO, they just need to take the BPA at 27, and if it is Gurley then I say go for it. That guy just might be something very special.

I can live with this, I guess.

Gurley is coming off a major injury and surgery. No way am I using a 1st rounder on him or the RB position in general.

Keep working the trenches imo. RB is not a position that's hard to fill.

Gurley is a beast and would like him on my team, but not high on spending a 1st on a RB. If Murray isn't back and he's BPA, go for it. Spend $ in FA for defense.

Going to be some POd people when Murray gets resigned to a nice friendly deal. I can't wait so all this BS finally gets put to bed.

I would much rather draft Duke Johnson in the 2nd than Todd Gurly in the 1st and I'm a fan of his.

I can't believe people are still saying this nonsense!

F.Y.I. The Cowboys last two first round draft picks weren't considered sexy!

Right, but offensive line and running the ball is what Garrett wanted to focus this team being best at.
Defense will continue to have to suck it up with what's left in FA and hope they can get a contributor
in the second & third rounds. Most teams do not draft DT in the 1st round unless it's a SUH!

Not only the money, but the top RB prospect will be available.

Also, Randle is a clown and a dummy. Anyone in line for a promotion who gets arrested again, cannot be depended on.

Bye bye, and take care. Hello Ryan Williams, congrats on your promotion!

And there's a real good chance with the injury, that Gurley is going to fall right in the Cowboys lap. He is the second coming of Beast Mode. A can't miss RB prospect that will step right in where Murray left off. The draft is deep at Oline talent and DE's. Every mock I've seen has him falling to the bottom of round 1.

if he is a can't miss back then why would he not go to a team early in the draft. after all there are so few can't miss players in the draft. lol
Jacksonville will pay for Murray but pass on a can't miss who according to some here is way better than Murray? That makes no sense. lol
