they offered this in TC and he turned it down. He will turn it down againGood price. Will he take it though? Can't say much after horrific fumble

I don't understand how he does not get any respect around here?? People are like, see ya. Is it because of the fumbles, or that he doesn't take it to the house every time he touches the ball?
I've heard this nonsense all year!
My favorite player on the team... Seems the masses like flash with little substance. You know who has more career fumbles?
The dude just broke Emmitts record, played hurt, and carried us to the playoffs and is getting screwed.
He is likely to get $6-7m a year from someone like the Colts who will view Murray as the RB that will put them over the top
I remember the last time we had that. We drafted the complimentary back in the 1st round.
What an epic fail.
You've got to structure the contract for what you expect Murray to be next year and how easy/hard it is to replace that production.
I honestly believe that Murray is not as good a runner as he was in his first 2 years in the league. He doesn't display the same moves or burst that he had as a rookie. He also really wore down during the season proving that he isn't a workhorse back, at least not to the extent of the carries he was getting.
He now is a power back who runs to contact. He has great all-around skills in that he is a capable blocker and competent outlet receiver but we need a dynamic runner if we are going to be as run-heavy as we were this season. We also need to employ a RB by committee approach so the RBs aren't done by game 12 like Murray this year.
I say go draft a guy in the 3rd round as there will probably be a good one available and have him split snaps with Randle and Dunbar who are both good players who were criminally under-utilized this year. I honestly wonder if we don't win in GB if Murray is out and Randle and Dunbar split the duties. They bring an element of speed and explosiveness that would put fear in the defenses that Murray just wasn't doing anymore.
I think the deal actually reflects the player that Murray will now be for the rest of his career. Some will see it as an insult by the FO but we can't be in the business of paying for past performance if we want to remain winners in this hard cap league.
I don't think Murray will accept this deal and I don't think he should as someone will offer him considerably more in FA in a few weeks. I hope he does well as he seems like a good kid.
Based upon the comments in this thread...Im curious....What should the Cowboys be willing to pay Adrian Peterson/What kind of offer do you think he'd accept? Maybe these answers would change perspective on what Demarco is actually worth to the Cowboys...or not...
They drafted a back up to be a starter and used both backs wrong... the 2 back system works
I don't think I would pay much more than 4 years for 16 mil with a little more than half of it guaranteed.
You have to factor in the following:
Nothing against Murray, but with a salary cap in place, you can't sign them all - someone's going to get "insulted".
- He just came off a 370+ carry season
- He's been injury prone (first season he's made it through healthy)
- He plays a position that's decreasing in value
- He'll be 27 in the first year of his contract so you should expect an underwhelming performance the last year or two of a 4 year contract.
- He had a slew of fumbles.
- The Cowboys have a lot of players to resign.
- His career year happens to have fallen on a contract year.
- He slowed down noticeably in the last month of the season
There are several reasons to be happy to let Murray walk: he has a bad injury history, he fumbles, he leaves a lot of yards on the field due to his poor vision, he inexplicably runs towards the defender when he gets to the open field, and has nothing resembling breakaway speed (again, leaving yards on the field. His age does not help and A lot of backs could do better behind this offensive line. I would prefer they invest in someone else. I do like his style of gliding through the hole and his size, reminds me a little of Duane Thomas.
Yet people want to bring in a 30 yo AP who hasn't been any thing special.
Why not the 7 years $45m ($16m guaranteed) that Jones graciously gave Marion Barber way back in 2008 despite the fact that Barber had never gone over 1000 yards?
