I think we were leading the game when he fumbled, Pack only got 3 out of the turnover...we drove right down the field with Murray doing most of the work and made it 21-13...if Bailey doesn't miss we would have had three more points...maybe Murrays long TD would have been a back breaker, maybe not...We couldn't seem to get off the field that much in the second half, and our vaunted four man rush kept Rogers clean the entire second half...Romo fumbles a shotgun snap on 3rd and 1 after he changed the play...that preceded Bailey's FG miss and allowed GB to get 3 of their own...You all act like Emmitt never fumbled and had break away speed...If Randle is so much better, why didn't he start and run behind that line...I don't want to break the bank, but he deserves more respect than this...

Please no the offer needs to be about 4 years for 20 and for the next four seasons he'll be worth it.

I don't want to bring in Adrian Peterson either (unless he comes pretty cheap).

Anyone who thinks Peterson is going to come in here at the age of 30 and pop off a 1400+ yard season is delusional.

And protect the ball any better which history says he's worse.
Or be able to protect Romo when needed.
There's a ton of ifs here.

Felix was never a starter in college. He was drafted to be a change of pace back. Just like in your original message, "thunder and lightning."

He became the starter, put on too much weight and lost speed and quickness. He wasn't a capable starter in this league.

There were other backs that year capable of handling the load and they were drafted in later rounds.

They drafted Felix to compliment Barber. Spending a 1st round pick on a compliment rb is pretty idiotic IMO.

That's whe I Said they drafted a BACK UP to be a STARTER

I just don't believe this offer came from Jerry Jones. He would offer a deal that at least had the appearance of being in the ballpark of what the other top runners in the league are making.

I like Murray, but if there's a team willing to give him 6-7 million per year, they can have him. That's just way too much for a RB who is not a HR hitter. The offer may go up to 5, but with this team's defensive needs and Dez getting a huge payday, you just cannot allocate that huge chunk at RB. Murray is very unlikely to repeat this season, just as Emmitt wasn't going to repeat his BEST season. I can accept a little less production at the position or by committee. Otherwise you keep Murray at a top price tag, and even if he's healthy, you may end up struggling on defense again.

I think the Cowboys have numbers in mind for the offense and defense, and they probably already have a number in mind for someone like JPP.

You cannot pay everyone, and despite a great year and years ahead of him, DeMarco is not Emmitt.

That's one special season. That's it.
Murray 1845 13 tds
1121 9 tds 14 games on a pass happy team.

I want both guys. They are both very good. I just don't want to pay the "old" prices for RBs in dollars or years.

I like Murray and he is a well rounded back, but I think a bruiser that can consistently get positive yards would serve the needed purpose of setting up the team for third and manageable. Surely the team can acquire one for that amount of money. They need to allocate the required resources to put a real defense on the field next year, maybe then Romo can open things up a bit. Maintaining some OL depth would be a good thing too,,,

You've got to structure the contract for what you expect Murray to be next year and how easy/hard it is to replace that production.

I honestly believe that Murray is not as good a runner as he was in his first 2 years in the league. He doesn't display the same moves or burst that he had as a rookie. He also really wore down during the season proving that he isn't a workhorse back, at least not to the extent of the carries he was getting.

He now is a power back who runs to contact. He has great all-around skills in that he is a capable blocker and competent outlet receiver but we need a dynamic runner if we are going to be as run-heavy as we were this season. We also need to employ a RB by committee approach so the RBs aren't done by game 12 like Murray this year.

I say go draft a guy in the 3rd round as there will probably be a good one available and have him split snaps with Randle and Dunbar who are both good players who were criminally under-utilized this year. I honestly wonder if we don't win in GB if Murray is out and Randle and Dunbar split the duties. They bring an element of speed and explosiveness that would put fear in the defenses that Murray just wasn't doing anymore.

I think the deal actually reflects the player that Murray will now be for the rest of his career. Some will see it as an insult by the FO but we can't be in the business of paying for past performance if we want to remain winners in this hard cap league.

I don't think Murray will accept this deal and I don't think he should as someone will offer him considerably more in FA in a few weeks. I hope he does well as he seems like a good kid.

Great post. I agree 100%. I really like Murray but since the first Commanders game teams were not afraid to blitz on any down. Teams had no fear of Murray burning them for a 70 yard TD. I too think that a couple of long Randle runs against Green Bay would have forced them to play us more straight up on first down.

I like the deal. so far this is the only season Murray hasn't missed any games. He's being something offered based on past/current performance. For years everyone on this board complained that JJ always overpaid and now that he offers a lower deal people still complain. Who understands you people.

No kidding, its mind boggling. They can't sign everyone and if they create another top heavy roster sucking up the cap with players that can't be cut or replaced, we'll be right back in the dumps. Its business, not personal, why is that so hard to understand?

I think people would have been shocked by how many yards Randle could have put up behind this OL.

But the coaches are scared of the thought of having Randle blocking on passing downs. He'll get Romo killed.

I'm not so sure Randle is going to punish any tacklers. I would like to have seen him more later in games after the defense had enough of Murray.

He'd bank a lot more somewhere else, hope he stays or is able to renegotiate if anything for the loyalty, chemistry already in place with the boys, and if anything else after this year, for the thought that with him on the team, we are only a couple to a few pieces short of a SB trip.

Give him a heavily incentive laced contract to bump the appearance of the deal up. That's what all these injury riddled guys should get.
