I'm not so sure Randle is going to punish any tacklers. I would like to have seen him more later in games after the defense had enough of Murray.

I like Randle as a change of pace to Murray. If he was in the GB game giving Murray a breather and a hole like that opened he wouldn't get touched. He just isn't, and I suspect will never be an all around back.

I just don't believe this offer came from Jerry Jones. He would offer a deal that at least had the appearance of being in the ballpark of what the other top runners in the league are making.

Plus why would we trust a media report about what or wasn't offered and get all up in arms about it as if it was the gospel truth. I doubt the report is even accurate, weren't we just told that Marinelli was bound for Tampa, yet he just agreed to a 3 year extension?

Let things pay out, Garrett and co value Murray but fortunately have shown discipline and restraint lately and hopefully will not give in to desperation or fear if the cost gets too high.

Its heartbreaking to think of going into next season without Demarco, but i think its the right call. The history of the 450+ touch running back is not a good one. With the fumbles, and injury history i'm very hesitant. I would rather invest the money elsewhere, and minimize the risk. I hate to understate what Demarco did last year, but RBs can be found.

The Cowboys almost never release this information publicly before a deal is reached.

If this is in fact a new report, it is clear that they are setting the market for running backs by doing this.

They are telling the entire league it was our offensive line not Murray, and that will give them pause. No team is going to double that, risk is wear and tear from 2014, his injury history, his fumbles, and the idea they aren't getting our offensive line with him.

I wonder what Adrian Peterson would have done on that run where Murray fumbled. I bet he takes that to the house.

Anyway, this was an offer made mid-season and is not current. Murray is gone.

I really think we need a guy that plays on a regular basis that is a homerun threat. I can think of a half dozen runs including the one he fumbled on against GB that were touchdowns if we had any speed in the backfield.

It is never good to fumble, but sometimes they don't hurt or don't hurt you that much. There were times in the year that Murray's fumbles really changed the game and came at the worst possible moment. Skins game and Packers game were huge shifts in game momentum.

Give him 6 million a year but every time he fumbles, 500,000 is taken off his yearly salary as an incentive to hang on the ball.

Probably as factually accurate as Rod to TB 30 minutes after the game ended.

You name the guys who aren't even proven to be good at pass protection. I'm not sure that helps your cause.

Murray is an all around back. I'm not sure why people have a fit with paying him a little more than the initial pathetic 4 years 16 million.

One, I hope I never reach a point where I get insulted at a man for offering me $16M dollars. I might not take it if I thought I could get more, but $16M is a heck of a lot of money, even for a football player. Two, I love the guy's attitude--I really do, I think it's perfect--and I love his toughness. But he's not a special runner. He's a very good runner. He's also good in pass protection. And he's a decent option as a receiver. But there's still the fumbling problem, the age, and the number of carries he logged this season. And, broken hand or not, he did wear down and become less effective later in the year as the team became more dependent on the running game. There's no getting around that. So, while I'd make a spot on my roster at a reasonable price for the guy, if he wants top money for his position, I'm letting him walk. We won't find a single player who can do what he does, but we'll bring in another capable back and end up with similar production from that position, all around next year. And we can do it while saving enough money to bring in another potential impact FA to help the defense, which is where we really need the support right now.

Salaries in the NFL are a bit higher than most of us will see where we work. The minimum salary for a rookie who is learning his position and playing special teams is $420,000. Some of the best players are making in the neighborhood of $20 million a year. If Tom Brady would have been offered $10 million a year it wouldn't have been a serious offer - insulting, even. That's just the way it is.

That's one of those old-school dad things I've got stuck in my head that I'm passing on to my boys. "Never get mad at a man for presenting you with an opportunity, son." It's hard to remember sometimes, but I think it's a good way to be. It's an offer. You don't have to take it. Right?

And he also fumbled in the elimination 2013 game vs Philly

Yep, forgot about that one............................he also fumbled his first carry of the season against the 49ers and it was returned to the house for a TD..................like another poster said, sometimes fumbles really don't hurt the team that much if they happen in garbage time when you have a big led for example, but Murray's fumbles have been absolutely back breaking.

You cant fumble your opening carry of the season and let it get returned for a TD before 30 seconds has even been played.

You cant fumble at the 5 yard line in a divisional game that would have given you the #1 seed

You dam sure cant fumble in a freaking playoff game, especially when there is nothing but green grass between you and the endzone and a TD probably seals the game for your team.

His fumbles were absolutely devastating and significantly contributed to the team losing the game................you just cannot have a running back that puts the ball on the ground during critical moments of a game, you just cant trust him anymore.

What Murray did this season was phenomenal, but I don't trust contract year marvels. He's had a history of injury. We had a monster O-line that gave Romo eons to throw and gave Murray some pretty huge holes to run through. Do I believe a cheap back can do what Murray did? No. But do I believe he will duplicate this season? Absolutely not, and he's going to want money based off of this season, which is his right. That doesn't mean we should pay him. Just look at the Hatcher situation. Hatcher was playing some fantastic ball in his last year but when it came down to it, we simply couldn't resign him for that year of performance.
