Murray was the main reason we had a chance to win

Romo did what he is paid to do, hit a wide open receiver 10 yards down the field vs no blitz. Does he deserve more share for doing just that? As for the run game TOs, I'm talking about this season and this game because they are non-existent PERIOD. WE HAVE NONE this year that put us in position to have a 14-6 lead turn into a 23-14 deficit. WE ARE A BETTER RUN TEAM THAN PASSING TEAM AND HAVE BEEN ALL SEASON!

I guess eluding the blitz and hitting Dez for a TD was because of Murray.....eluding the blitz and hitting TWill for 50 yds was because of Murray...eluding the sack and hitting Austin on 4th down was all Murray and buying time with his feet and freezing the LB and allowing Murray the space to score was telepathy on Murray's part.

You forgot eluding the blitz and hitting Beasley on 4th down in the 4th Q was because of Murray.
The bottom line is we needed everyone today.

You're right, I got the Austin 3rd and 1 and the Beasley 4th and 6 confused.

Plus Murray could've really hurt the team if his penalty after the TD wasn't offsetting. Not bashing Murray, but this team needs everyone to win.

Dude, you are seriously embarassing yourself in this thread. The fact that you choose one offensive weapon over another just shows how very little you must understand football. Football is a team game, where the running game complements the passing game and the passing game complements the running game. The fact that we have Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray is awesome.

Murray just seems to be getting better and better and the fact that we are feeding him more thrills me to death, .. I love to run the football.

But since you don't realize it, .. Romo was a gladiator in the fourth quarter today. He played hurt, on the road, in a hostile environment, and led this team to 10 points in crunch time when they were down by 9.

He made play after play, throw after throw, extended plays, .. he was amazing.

Knowing that we need offensive balance, .. I'm thrilled to have both Romo and Murray, .. throw in Dez and that is the closet thing to "Triplets" that we have had since the mid-90's.

Not sure what your problem is.

How am I embarrassing myself by stating the facts since Week 1 about the best way to consistently win with this team? Kinda hard to not know football, especially in my line of work. My problem is that we are a perceived passing team (WERE NOT) that inconsistently wins with its supposedly strong suit (passing). My problem is that we have abandoned the run prematurely all season and for no other reason than to prove a point that we are said vaunted passing team or out of complete lack of competency. My problem is Murray has proven that when given more than 20+ runs a game, we are undefeated and it protects Romo from Romo or from having to shouldering the load too much, which ever way you want to phrase it. Not to mention enhancing Dez with play action fakes in the passing game (something were actually good at). My problem is that I have told and proven statistically that the Cowboys DON'T run with a lead after being told Murray's rushing attempts would increase if we played with a lead. My problem is Jerry gave over playing duties from a guy that wanted to pass damn near 70% of the time to a guy that has recommending throwing 100% of the time. My problem is most of the negative plays on offense stem from the inconsistent passing game that we rely too much on when the running game has been exactly what it was today, a grind it out unit that can bust one every game with more chances.

My problem is I'm still not sure if Garrett has caught on that Dez and Murray need to be the focal point of this offense in order to get Ws because we have seen under Garrett, Romo can't get us over the hump passing alone. Enough knowledge for you or do I have to pull the WWL card?

Go look at the tape, Dez had a small separation but slipped as the ball left Romo's hand. Dez is four inches taller and 30 pounds heavier than Hall, if he doesn't slip he will catch the ball - or worst case, knock the ball down. Which is why they throw to him when he has single coverage several times (at least) every game.

No you go look at the tape. Hall was in position whether he slipped or not. It's not as easy of a catch as you make it seem. I know why the throw it to a beast, but again something goes wrong in the passing game and someone has to step up and try to show why the bad result wasn't Romo's fault or a fluke. How many flukes have to happen to this team in the passing game for people to realize were just not disciplined enough to rely on it almost 65% of the time or just to unluckiest team ever invented?

The bottom line is IF had we used everyone that we've needed every week like I've been screaming all season we might not be in a win and get in situation like we are.

You blamed a fumble after the catch on passing too much, that's just silly.

As I did with Dunbar's vs KC, or the very many that Dez has as well. What you are missing is that the fumble happened on 2nd and 8 after Murray gained 13 yards rushing on the first 2 plays of the series. Was a pass needed on 2nd and 8 after gaining 13 on 2 plays taking into consideration his (Murray) first half and what happened last week? YES PASSING TOO MUCH. 2nd and 8 is not automatically a passing down, something else I've been screaming all season as well as something else you missed. Now if I've been begging, pleading and praying for more 2nd down runs, why do you think I would be happy with another 2nd down pass that lead to a TO?

Just ask yourself was a pass needed with the way we were running the ball?

You are taking your analysis to the point of paralysis. Run, pass, it doesn't matter how the play began if positive yards are gained. Klutts fumbles after catching the ball and picking up 6 yds. Bad things happen on run plays as well or did you forget the DET game or the third and goal yesterday?

A TO and lost yards are two different things boss when it comes to bad things. Murray lost yards and we still got the ball back on 4th down, Clutts fumbles and we don't get our 3rd and 4 chance. Both negative plays, but which would you take in the grand scheme of things? We literally have not one TO on run plays this season, NONE. So it does matter when it comes to not giving it to the other team like Clutts did. Murray running the ball could have managed those 4 yards (he fumbled forward as well and not lost the ball, so not sure where you indiscriminately got 6 yards from).

All I know is your boy had 3 shots for the goal line and ended up at the ten. A pass play is the one that they scored on. So if you want to rely on never throwing the ball ever because the receiver may end up fumbling the ball once he becomes a runner, I have no advice left to give.

I wasn't really asking for your advice boss. Advice to you, learn a lil bit more about me before you assume I never want to pass. My boy bailed your boy out with presence of mind to get up the field because the other 5 options on the PASSING play failed to get open. Some more advice, 2nd and 8 isn't automatically a passing down WITH THE LEAD!!

And it's not an automatic run either. Problem with your theory is that the pass was completed. Keep trying.

Problem is that a run or pass has to be called and since we literally pass the ball 81.48% of the time on 2nd and 8, its pretty much automatic for Garrett/Callahan/Romo to work a pass in that situation and for the defense to know that one is coming. The completion has nothing to do with my theory other than proving my point that the majority of bad things that happen to this offense happen when we pass. His fumble being another example of that theory and another example of why Murray should get the ball more on 2nd downs and more overall period.

I'm eating some serious crow on Murray. He's a better back than I gave him credit for earlier in the year. When the OL does their job, Murray's usually rock-solid.

I can tell you what is never going to happen. The Cowboys will never "ride" Romo's arm to a Super Bowl. He will need a better complement of players and coaches around him. He will need this to slowly undo his unhealthy propensity to do too much. Brees is having the same trouble in New Orleans. How human he looks with a disheveled offensive line. 4 INT's in the last two games, he is in a real slump right now and running for dear life. A 6 sack drubbing against Carolina was something I have not seen for a while in a Saints game. The Saints are crashing at a time when the season requires your best ball. Before the Seattle game, no one would have predicted their finish.

When you talk about run -vs- pass, I'm with you, .. I would love to be a running team. When you talk about poor coaching decisions or play calling, I'm right with you.

But when you say running Murray is a good decision and having Romo throw is a bad, .. that is a silly thing to say and I cannot agree with you.

You have praised Murray in this thread and bashed Romo, choosing one over the other, ... that is ridiculous and like I mentioned earlier, somewhat embarassing.

We need both running and passing, we need both Murray and Romo. The fact that we do have both is awesome. Both guys are very important/critical for us to have a balanced offense.

He deserved the blame earlier but he is running better now. I'm happy for him. He's cutting it back, running to daylight a little bit more, and finding holes. I just wish when there isn't a big hole he would just hit it a little harder but all in all, I'm happy.

Well, I don't think you can take it away because it did happen, and he should get credit for it. But if you want to talk it about the effectiveness of the running game, you do have to take it into account.

I am not at all in favor of us being as pass happy as we've been, but I can also see what it is that I think the coaches are seeing and have been seeing: we're not good at running the ball when the other team knows it's coming.

What are you talking about? Even without his long run we were getting 4-6 yards on many of his carries.

Watching the replay of Murray's long run, I loved watching TWill continue blocking downfield. He never gave up on the play.

Also, Romo bought the wide receivers A LOT of time by extending plays.

Hopefully we get a bit healthier by Sunday (Harris, Mo, Lee) and find a way to win.

Still not a fan of JG at all....
