1. A win is a win in today's NFL. Those saying it wasn't that impressive just don't get it. Period. Did you guys see how many 'bad' teams beat 'good' teams yesterday?
2. TO made two very tough catches to go along with the drops. Did you see him go up high to grab those two over the middle? He got up.
3. JJ started off strong but fizzled as the holes closed up. What's funny is that Bill always talks about how important it is for JJ to follow the play. The fact is Barber is pretty quick to make drastic cuts back the other direction if he doesn't see a lane but I never hear any complaints from Bill about that. Do you think he feels like Barber is smarter about it?
4. I seem to recall that this is the 2nd or 3rd game (including pre-season) where Romo started the game out throwing high.
5. Regarding Romo, did you truly realize what a weapon a Quick Release was until watching him play the last three weeks? On the pass to Witten over the middle (3rd quarter I think) when the Cards blitzed, it was amazing how fast the ball came out. The TDs to Crayton and TO, he makes the read and boom, the ball comes flying out. Romo has the quickest release of any Cowboys QB of all time.
6. Those fans complaining about Bill not kicking a field goal or passing the ball on the two fourth downs in the 4th quarter don't get it. The only way we lose that game is if we give up an INT or a FG Block for a TD. The points mean nothing. It is all about percentage football.
7. Hats off to Flozell and the Oline for the pass blocking and blitz pickup. Although run blocking was mediocre, overall it was a strong performance by the oline. Weak link is still Rivera though.
8. Lay off RW on that INT attempt he missed. Would have been an amazing catch. He was preparing to make the tackle and didn't see the ball until too late. Glad to see Pat Watkins get one but it was a pretty easy play for him.
9. Losing Ellis is a big blow. Best pass rusher on the team even though he seems to have marginal fan following at best. I really don't know how we are going to generate pressure on the QB. Our blitzes get picked up. Ware is not consistent and will get doubled now more than ever. My solution would be to get Hatcher on the field more and get Burnett rushing around the edge. Sorry, but I don't trust Carpenter yet and Singleton just isn't a pressure player.
10. Colts - We just don't match up that well with the Colts offense especially with Ellis out. Without pressure, Manning is unstoppable. He will read our lousy blitz and throw deep. We are going to have to score a lot - over 30 I think. Romo can do it though.
11. Things I don't understand.
(A) Why do the refs have it in for us on these phantom Chop Blocks?
(B) Parcells approach to time management under two minutes.
(C) Everyone's hatred/nervousness over Vandy who is hitting 85% this year and 88% all-time for his career. Pre-season is pre-season.
(D) The argument that Barber should start. Play them both. Give more carries to Barber if he seems to have the feel like the last two weeks.
