My 2 Cents on Romo

Romo said yesterday that ball security was what makes a difference. If you can avoid giving the other team an advantage by making a mistake and a turnover, then your ability to win increases. Not rocket surgery, to be sure. But the kid gets it now. He is the eye of the storm for this team.

Now you have firebrands like Brookings that inspire the defense.

Ware's heroics paves the path for the defenders and shows them selling out for the common cause will get them over the hump.

But Romo's play transcends both sides of the ball. His elevation of his game and keeping the pressure on the other offense to keep up is what effects every player on the team.

The way Romo has conducted himself during the games over the past six weeks is a remarkable departure from his past. He is now the leader he needs to be and he has taken his game to a whole new place. And the team will follow.

I don't know how this will turn out for Dallas this year.

One of the remarks made about some of the play-off teams - Green Bay, Steelers - is people don't want to play them.

There are eleven teams that don't want any part of Romo. He has that thousand yard stare. He is truly seeing beyond and is orchestrating the entire team from his position and the plays he makes.

I have been waiting for this guy to get to this point. His shoulders are now broad enough to carry this team, like a Favre, or Manning.

The destiny of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2009 play-offs is resting on number 9.

Reach out for your destiny, Tony. History is yours for the taking.

Great post. We are officially in a "window" of both talent and maturity with Tony.

Are their any doubters left?

(other than the Brady Quinn/Terrell Owens trolls?)

This is one of the best posts I've read in a while... I couldn't agree more! Romo is ready to lead this team to a championship, it might not be this year but it's coming.

Just imagine if Romo and the Cowboys actually had a *real* offensive coordinator.

Thing with Tony is he is always looking to improve as a player. He took a lot of abuse last year for trying to make some adjustments in his game but Tony did not let that get to him he continued to work hard at his game. I have heard that Tony lacked the mental toughness I think playing QB in Dallas under the constantly criticism and playing as he has shows the mental toughness

And to think... there was actually a strong contingent of fans ready to run Tony off after Week 2.

One of the very best QBs in the game and we're damn lucky to have him.

Been trying to tell people that for a good while now.

We still have some trolls pretending to be fans. As soon as we hit a rocky road (hopefully after we win the superbowl) they will be there to tell you how sorry we are.

And people laughed about all the "Romo-Friendly" Offense comments during the Offseason.

Tony Romo was never the problem with this team.

Exactly, yes he has controlled the TO's but he has been one of the besT QB's in the NFL over the past 3 years even with the TO's. This just makes him better.

Somebody trying to say he is just now there is a silly thread. It is not because of him that this team has done nothing over the past 3 years, it is because of him that they were even close!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes imagine the possibilities with a real offensive coordinator. Romo could be downright scary.

As Troy Aikman said earlier this year the only reason expectations have been so high in Dallas over the last few season is because of Tony Romo. Tony is a big part of why this team is a contending team. I have never expected him to carry this team to the promise land I think to get to the show the team must rise to the occasions but Romo clearly is a big part or the equation

Before making comments like that, look up our offensive rankings.

We need an offensive coordinator. The team moves the ball in spite of Jason "Let go Shotgun" Garret. Move along.

Besides his slipperiness I love his vision. Hes always scanning the entire field and rarely throws the wrong way.

Tony Romo was never the problem with this team.

I've watched a lot of the greats over the years. Not just in football but in all the major sports.

They have greatness inside, but it takes time for the maturity level to catch up.

Until they learn to be champions they are people with potential.

Ryan Leaf had a great upside. He could make all the throws and was a physical specimen that looked like the prototype quarterback.

But he could not harness his mental faculties to mature in this game.

Saying the right thing is a lot different than doing the right thing. Jordan had to learn to lead his team to the trophy.

So does Tony.

But mentally he is there now. He has arrived.

After seeing some succeed and some fail but all having great potential, I needed to see him put it together in his mind and then move it to the field.
September stats was never the issue nor the answer.

When the game is on the line, or the season is on the line, does this guy step up?

History says no.

That history was rewritten in the last six weeks. Even with losses to the Giants and Chargers.

For those of you who knew all along, I understand a 1-800 number and the ability to take credit cards means you can start a psychic hotline and get rich.

But there have been far too many players that had everything physically that could never put the mental aspect of the game together in a way to elevate their play.

Show me is not a slander on Tony. Show me was history saying far more fail than succeed to a level we all want this team to reach.

Tony joined an elite group this season.
