I lost my voice at a sportsbar watching this game with a few 69er fans that were talking a lot of trash....

1) Cortez, ....sucks. Better than Cundiff on kickoffs but I shouldn't have to hold my breath on extra points. I'm glad LA got in his grill. If Cortez makes a very makeable early fg last week, there was no comeback. Kicker is going to have to be a priority next offseason and I hope we're watching the waiver wire closely.

2) Henry had a horrible game. He didn't get very good jams at the LoS and that's his forte. I don't expect him to have very many games like that.

3) FS, terrible. I don't know if to think that it was because of Pile that San Flam stopped throwing deep on us or if they're just so dumb that they forgot how weak we are back there. FS and K are going to be high on our '06 offseason list.

4) Ware didn't get to the QB as much as he should've. He had a ton of chances to pin his ears back and rush the passer, I think he only had one sack. I expect more. He looked tired in the 4th. (on a side note, remember all the money Jevon Kearse got from philthy? His last sack was in November of last season :laugh2: He would've gotten one today but he was offsides :D )

5) I LOVE our DL. I don't feel like the play tapers off regardless of who we have in there. Spears and Canty are studs in waiting.

6) Bledsoe, what a difference a QB makes! He may not be Tom Brady, but he's good enough to get us far into the playoffs if the rest of the team can put it together. 3 starts as a Cowboy and 2 4th quarter comeback victories. He's good.

7) JJ doesn't seem like he's as dangerous as he was last year, looks slower. I know he's doing better at waiting for his blocks and that teams are loading up to stop him, but he doesn't look as lethal as he did end of last year, good but not lethal. The 69ers are one of the worst run defenses that he's gonna face too.

8) Our offense is pretty predictable. General formula for figuring us out when we aren't trying to come from behind late:
if 1st down is a pass, 2nd down will be a run
if 1st down is a run that gains 5 or more yards, 2nd down will be a run also
if 1st down is a run that gets <5 yards, 2nd down will be a pass.
Can we mix it up more please? Our playbook seems to lack imagination and our playcalling lacks spontaneity.

9) We may be the worst screen and RB-out-in-the-flat pass team I've ever seen. Every other team in the league uses screens effectively or throws to their back in the flat often for good yardage, the iggles use these almost exclusively. We can't do it to save our lives.

10) We have a lot of weapons, JJ, Witten, Key, Crayton, and Glenn. No one should be able to stop all of them. On the bright side, we are averaging 25 points per game, an increase of 7 from the last ten years or so. That is huge, esp while our defense is maturing.

11) Key is money in the redzone. Throw this guy the darn ball! We have so far but it should be a rule that we run at least one play for Key every set of downs in the redzone.

12) The D scheme concerns me. We continually make crappy QBs look like all-stars. Can we figure out how to defend the deep pass please? We haven't faced good WRs yet this year (save maybe Moss), the buttRaiderettes have Moss and Porter waiting for us. Get it figured out Zimmer! You shouldn't have to have an all-star at every position to have a great defense. We have more than our share of talent, figure it out Zimmer!

13) Our LBers must get better in defending the short middle of the field in pass defense..its too soft.

14) Our OL looked great IMO. Bledsoe had hours to throw most of the time. One sack was his fault for holding the ball too long. Bottomline, Bledsoe had a lot of time to look downfield. The weakest link IMO is Al Johnson. He missed several blocks on that all would've given JJ big runs. Pettiti is coming along, he's going to be facing every good pass rusher all season, for a rook, I like him just fine there. Gurode needs to pull his head out, we need him run blocking at center.

15) Good thing we won that. 2-1 is important, it doesn't get any easier. The 69ers are about as bad as its gonna get as far as our opposition goes. Good teams win those games. I'm not going to say we're a good team yet, but to get there, you beat crappy teams consistently.

Good point ghst...I agree with pretty much everyone.

I'm going to be having nightmares of Collins throwing deep to Moss all week. They need to dump Davis as a FS and move him back to SS...it's not working. I would like for Parcells to move one of the backup CB's over to FS like Nate Jones.

not today...the o moved the ball when they wanted too. Lots of play action stuff..which does require you to actually run the ball to make it work.

.

No quams about the o today but I thought the 69ers QB was the second coming of Montana today. The D is still full of holes IMHO.
