The Rams pick 13th. What if Simpson doesn't get the crazy QB push right to the top of the 1st round and is still viewed as a mid 1st when the Raiders go on the clock?

And what if this report is true and the league knows about it. The Rams have two 1sts and with Stafford now year to year it would make sense to draft a QB now that their scouts are thumbs up on.

This would mean a league notice that if you want Ty Simpson you have to get up ahead of the Rams at 13. Like maybe to the Cowboys at 12.

Would the Jets at 16 be interested? They won't take him at 2. They have plenty of draft capital. Why not use it to walk away with one of the top 2 players on their board and their franchise QB this year?

What about the Steelers at 21? The time to get your QB if you don't already have one is ideally your 1st year as a new Head Coach. You don't want to be grooming a QB for someone else to coach him in his prime.

Or even teams like the Browns or the Cardinals getting back into the round? Teams lose their mind when it comes to QB. You may be able to get a bounty. Get back into Day 2, add a couple more picks this year and add a 1st next year in a better draft.

I don't expect it to be a popular idea but if the Cowboys are actually aggressive in March it might be a more attractive idea than it is now.

Probably won't happen but it's my best case scenario at 12.

I will say this again depending on how the draft fall I am still very weary of falling back to far if Styles is on the board at 12. I think Bucs will take him at 15. I am assuming Downs, Reese, Bailey and Baines is gone by 12 also

It is an interesting thought
I am not as sold on Styles as some here
and to be blunt the talent at 20 is likely to not be that much better than at 12. The only one I hope drops to us is Downs; after that I am fine with trading down and getting picks in the 2nd and 3rd

we would be incredibly lucky for Styles to make it to 12,i am not trading down from 12 if one of the OSU guys is still there.

If the Rams want Simpson isn't it more likely they start trying to trade up starting at around 8?

It's why I said if his stock doesn't rise from where it is right now. Nobody is projecting him a top 10 pick right now.

I think our best case is to get our 2027 1st back from NY. In whats supposed to be a loaded draft, that's the best value we can get. That pick is currently valued at a 2nd rounder, so the value matches.

Im not greedy about adding picks to the draft. Id take that 2027 first over a day 2 package in 2026 all day

I remember Wentz was a 2nd until the Senior Bowl, then he skyrocketed to the top 5 almost immediately. Eagles traded up to the 2nd pick in February with the intent on taking Wentz. IIRC Goff was locked in at #1 by then, also on the backs of a strong Senior Bowl.

Simpson participated in the Senior Bowl and has risen, but not in a meteoric sense like Wentz did. Not apples to apples, but his rise might not be as significant. I dont know that teams would trade multiple 1st's for him like they did with Wentz and Goff. Which could cap him from like 8 to 12 or so

I find it hard to believe Simpson will become that popular but stranger things have happened in the draft.

There are so few real blue chippers and no QBs beyond Mendoza that its less likely. But then desperate GMs have done stupid things before.

I’m hoping to trade back from 12 to right around 17-18. Still pick again at 20 and hopefully added another 100 pick

I am all for a few small trade downs at 12 and 20, get a 2nd and a 3rd.

They can get 1 impact type player, 1 very solid starter, and 2 players if not starters, they can significantly contribute. Then become starters in year 2.

It would definitely be ideal if a team wants to trade up. Obviously depending who’s available

I just won’t be shocked if Simpson goes top 11. I’m not saying he’s worthy of that spot, it’s just how the NFL goes. There’s 4 teams 2-11 that need a franchise QB…we’ll see if the Jets, Cardinals, Browns, and Dolphins all resist the urge of thinking Simpson can be their guy.

Depending on what we do with Pickens, I think WR could present an opportunity to trade back as well. There’s a pretty significant drop off after Tate, Tyson, and Lemon. If 2 of them go top 11 I can see a team getting aggressive to get the 3rd.

Teams will give up more if it's a QB they're targeting. That's why I'm interested in a trade down for Simpson in particular.

teams go terminally stupid about QBs that are big and strong with big arms.

There was a NFL pundit on twitter saying that if Love fell into the teens, which he didn’t think will happen, there will be teams clamoring to try to get up. He said this is a light draft and Love is one of a small handful of blue chippers. If he slides due to positional value, someone is going to want to try to jump to 12-13-14 to grab him.

If Simpson has the eye of teams and Love starts to drop, whew boy, there could certainly be some interesting trade opportunities.

Love's not getting past the Saints/Chiefs at 8 and 9.

Downs goes to the Giants at 5. Bailey goes to the Skins at 7.

I get this thinking but as mentioned in another thread, I seriously doubt any teams are overlooking talent in this draft to focus on the 2027 draft. Every draft has plenty of starting talent from all positions. It's up to their personnel and scouting department to find it. Think about it ....there is probably what, projected 5-7 big-name players coming out next year but every one of them needs to complete their 2026 season first. Who knows what could happen........I could name at least 5-6 players who were in the 2026 top 10 draft conversation this time last year that have dropped to the bottom round or out of 1st all together.
