When healthy top 5 MLB and I don't think anyone can deny that. Overall, he is a great tackler, great insticts, and great hands. Fearless, play till the whistle competitor.

Here's where I DON'T say BUT. Elephant in the room he's been banged up. I would prefer he played more, but in no way am I going to bash the guy like much of Cowboy nation does for it. From reporters, coaches, and players, Sean Lee is at VR studying harder and putting in more hours then anyone. Rob Ryan said "Lee knows this defense better then I do." (I know that leaves an opening for RR was a mess that's why)

My point is, forget how talented he is for a minute. Realize this guy is working harder then probably anyone on the roster to prepare. He is a leader. He is cerebral as they come on defense. What are the things Cowboys fans always complain about? No leaders, not enough time the film room, no toughness. Sean Lee is all that and a bag of chips. I know your mad he has missed games and that's valid, but can we stop calling him names like China Doll and Made of Glass. That same china doll would put you in the ICU if met in an alley way. I love that we extended him, and ill never bash a guy who puts his life into this team and has amazing talents to boot.

All aboard the Sean Lee train.

I love the post but I think no matter what else he does he has to make plays. And he has to be on the field to do that.

Dude. It isn't bashing when it's actually happening. I love me some Lee but he's strictly tantalizing at this point.

He's worthless on the bench as any other player is in any sport. You do realize that is why he dropped in the draft, right?

Sorry he's good but it was not a good move to extend him as we did.

He's a more healthy version of matt Johnson. Supremely talented (our coaches think Johnson is) but playing 10 games a year doesn't help especially when he's out for those win or go home games.

Completely valid like I said in the OP. But its not like he's saying screw training and getting hurt ala Mike Jenkins. Dudes doing more then he has to and just getting some bad luck. For that, ill never bash

If he was missing all those games and not doing extra in some other aspect he'd be cut. I don't think his hard work is something to praise him over. It's what's expected as an NFL player

If the rest of the team could tackle Lee wouldn't be getting hurt on bad angles by making up for the rest of the squad..

I like watching Lee play. He plays the right way. I think he needs some DT help so he doesn't constantly get a guard or center in his face. I think that will help him not wear down.

We need a DT that can force a double team.

There's jno case to make for Sean Lee. We know how good he is. He needs to be on the field. I don't care who good of a "leader" he is on the sidelines. It does us no good. He needs to be healthy and be on the field. Same goes for Demarco.

We need to draft his replacement. I have my doubts he'll ever be the same guy after his heck injury last year.

Love the player. If we managed cap and draft better to give us more quality depth, the sting of Lee's absences would not be so painful. The reason we need him so bad is from the drop off to the next guys up. I'll take him all day. I feel he is one of the players that raises others Players' games too which is added value. he is like Witten in that regard but I know he's no iron man.

This is either undervalued or just not spoken enough around here. Once a team gets enough Lee's then it reaches critical mass. You just cannot overstate that value to a team both on and off the field.

He is what he is, you can choose to revere him or doubt him, at the end of the day you'll be judged by what you did on the field.
That applies to nearly every aspect of life. You either walk the walk or you don't. There's no way around it and there's no warm and fuzzy way to word it.

Probably the most astute observation here.

There is no reason for your Mike to be taking on Centers and Guards on a regular basis.

Hopefully Melton's speed and skill shooting the interior gaps will draw more of those interior linemen into the pocket and leave Sean free to make tackles on backs and tight ends.

Lee is not a "stack and shed" linebacker. That should be your Sam with your Mike and Will scraping over the top to clean up the mess. Bradie James was a "stack and shed" guy. Used to be a thing of beauty to watch him stonewall pulling Guards.

I agree. It's why I am ok with Witten's contract and wasn't ok with Ware's or extending Ware's for a large amount. I'm not in the locker and meeting rooms but I imagine Lee and Witten impact outdidr of their own performances. Prob. Why Roy w. Was great under woody too.

Sean Lee's deal is actually very team-friendly. But people need not worry about the cap - the Cowboys have shown they can manage the cap to sign the players they want.

I do agree with others though - we need Sean to stay healthy.

please don't compare Lee and Johnson. Lee is a stud. One of this teams best draft picks over the past 10 years. He just needs to stay on the field. Whether he is prone to more injuries or just bad luck....you need to stay on the field.

We have no idea if Johnson is an NFL player. This was the same franchise that tried to sell the fanbase for months that Alan Ball was going to surprise everyone.
