I had a Sony Ericsson w810 and I just want to say that i really liked my cell phone. Wasn't the latest and greatest, but i used it to it's fullest. Had a great camera phone, absolutely great. :(

Anywho, now I'm in the process of looking for a new one. Fortunately, I'm eligible for an upgrade thru AT&T.

So the phones, I'm looking at are:

Sony Ericsson w580i - Sue me. I like their phones. Pretty much the same phone I have. And it's a totally free upgrade. Unfortunately the website says they're out of stock.

Blackberry Pearl 8120 - Less talk time, but pretty much an upgrade all around. $99 to upgrade

ATT Tilt - A lil heavier phone than I like, but its capabilities are off the charts. Downside again is less talk time. I talk alot. And it also has less standby time. $99 to upgrade.

iPhone - I'd be remiss not to consider the iPhone. Most of you know it's capabilities. $199 to upgrade. The problem is that it's out of stock and I'd have to wait a week to get a new phone. Don't know if I want to wait tht long.

I have the W580 and it's a great phone....too bad they are out of stock. I wanted to get the tilt when I was upgrading at the beginning of the year but since it was new they were too proud of them.

Gotta admit, I'm leaning towards the Tilt as well. The specs on it are amazing and it's decent price to upgrade.

I've always been fond of the Blackberry, but I've got a friend who's had quite a few issues with hers. She still likes it, but its had some quirks that threw her off.

If money is no option, then there should be no hesitation whatsoever to get the iphone.

The others are decent phones, but aren't even in the same ballpark as the iphone. My buddy just got the tilt....it took me ten minutes to check the score of last nights game on his phone.

As much as people want to hate on apple products and their users, it tends to remind me of the way people hate on the Cowboys....except in this case, it truly is a superior product. IMO, of course.

I think I'm going to buy an iphone by the end of the month.

Thing is...money is an option. I really don't have the money to have to get a new phone, but I have no choice. Honestly the downside for the iPhone for me is the wait to get a new one and I get an extra $100 rebate for the other phones.

If my current phone wasn't broken, then I could see me going that route.

Yeah, it is for me too. I want it badly, and the initial cost doesn't bother me, but the 100 bucks a month for the plan is tough to swallow. I don't use my current phone enough to warrant that type of monthly commitment....but that iphone...I'm pretty sure I'd be online all day....and subsequently fired...and then I won't be able to pay the bills.

Oi! I'm so confused. :eek::

Considering your situation, I can understand why you wouldn't go that route. Personally, I can easily live without my phone for a week. Sometimes, I wish i didn't have one at all.

Well I already pay $130/mo for my phone. Got the unlimited minutes plan and a messaging plan. The problem with the iPhone plan is I'd pay another $40-50/mo for it and a decent messaging plan. That would put me closer to $200 that I'd rather not pay.

And I just read that iPhone doesn't offer a multimedia messaging. Not sure wassup with tht.

Blackberry is out now... cuz I forgot my Dad and one of my friends have one. Don't want a phone that anyone I know has.

This just happened to me. Site was out of stock. I got on phone with CSR and complained a little and they called a store near me and I picked up same phone, same day.

Didnt cost me anything.

I would wait on the iPhone. Just not worth it yet. Incomplete.

i have the iphone. I am not going to lie to you. I don't think its really worth it. Yeah the internet is nice and I can easily get on here post and everything on it, but it eats up battery like crazy.

ipod, same deal eats up the battery like crazy.

the no MMS deal is extremely annoying. there aren't even any "underground apps" yet available that enable it.

gps is ok, but i mean i already have a real one.

the touch screen thing is annoying more than anything to me, for texting anyway. and it lags sometimes pretty bad.

Honestly, it wasn't worth it and if I could have my old blackberry pearl back and still get all my money back for this iphone, i would do it in a heartbeat.

the most amazing thing i saw from an iphone was at a show the dj was playing some music and i couldn't think of who sang the song. my friend got out her iphone and held it up and the phone listened and looked it up for me and told me.

that was amazing!

That's not an iPhone thing, that's an AT&T thing. For $0.99 you dial into a service and a computer tells you what it is. For another $1 it will go out and get it for you to buy.

A buddy with a Samsung Blackjack showed that to me.

After reading a ton of reviews, I've realized that all the phones are flawed. Not that my phone wasn't, but dang.

iPhone doesn't have multimedia messaging. Alot of other great features, but I use tht feature alot.

Blackberry doesn't offer any other instant messaging services and they don't have 3G capability.

The Tilt is bulky and doesn't have very good talk time.

~sigh~

Need to decide something before this night is over.

Correct.

All the feature phones ARE flawed. We are getting dribs and drabs of what is to come. Buying the phone now is pretty much a waste and not worth. In a year or two they will be "THE PHONES"... well they wont even really be phones anymore.

Anyways... I tried the Dare for a month. Its Verizon's/LG version of the iPhone(well sorta). It was ok. It wasnt enough for me to keep it.

To date my best phone has been the Razr V3c. I have that phone for close to 3 years now.

For the curious, I picked the Blackberry pearl 8120.

I almost got the Treo 750.

Ultimately, I decided I didn't need a phone on steroids, just something that's got a lil something extra.

good phone, imho. i had a blackberry once and while it did act up and liked to reboot itself at times, most of my phones have done that. i love the keypad on the blackberry for txt messaging but i rely on regular keyboards. not long ago i got the verizon voyager and so far it's easily my favorite cell phone. and i've been through a LOT of cell phones.
