I got hired as a Christmas time employee in a little sporting goods store at a local mall. There were 4 of us who worked there. It was 1993 and we were once again the favorites to win Super Bowl XXVIII.

Andy was a Packers fan.

Chris was a Bills fan.

Marc was a 49ers fan.

If you imagined they weren't happy to have a Cowboys fan on board you are right. Marc in particular was a smack talker. We beat the Packers in the Divisional round of the Playoffs and I was running it a little. Okay, I was running it a lot. Marc said the 49ers were going to kill us in the NFC Championship. Then Jimmy guaranteed we were going to win. "Put it in 3 inch high letters."

Marc went ballistic. He wanted to bet me. Andy suggested a "bust in the chops." The winner got to punch the loser right in the mouth. Marc was all over it, and Chris was adamant that it was the coolest bet ever.

So, I took the bet and after the game Chris and Andy watched as I punched Marc right in the mouth. They were cracking up.

I immediately turned to Chris and asked him if he wanted the same bet for the Super Bowl and he declined. I had hit Marc pretty hard.

Believe it or not, the 4 of us are still friends.
