As with my previous attempt, the picks are based on a) the latest (12/16) update to the CBS/Draftscout rankings, and b) where I think the 'Boys will end up drafting (somewhere in the 14-16 range). And, as the title says, it eill be HEAVY on defense. Why you ask? Because, for some weird reason, the OL has been playing well together for over a month - as if they are starting to gel (even Berny is playing well. Waters must of schooled him on some things). Anyway, her goes:

Round 1: CJ Mosely, LB 'Bama - a more athletic Sean Lee. Get him and they (Mosely and Lee) could become interchangeable.

Round 2: Aaron Donald, DT Pitt - the only reason he drops (which he probably will) is his size. But, as everybody already knows, THIS is a classic 3Tech in every sense of the word. BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!

Round 3: Randy Gregory, DE Nebraska - again, this is based on where they have him ranked now. Also, I'm assuming they keep "the guy Ware-ing 94" since Jerry always holds on to folks too long. The kid is a beast just starting to reach his potential. Ware's replacement.

Round 4: Gabe Jackson, G Miss. St. - again, this is based on where they have him ranked now. Excellent prospect to come in and compete with Leary and Berny for a starting spot. Wasn't as dominate this year so he slid this far.

Round 5: Kareem Martin, DE UNC - AGAIN, this is based on where they have him ranked NOW. Could challenge to be the Day 1 Starter at LDE. STEAL OF THE DRAFT if they got him here (even a bigger steal than Donald in Round 2).

Round 7: Garrison Smith, DT Georgia - classic 1T size (6'3", 300), with much better quickness than Nick Hayden. Got 6 sacks playing NT in Georgia's scheme this year. Pair him with Donald and watch out.

Round 7: Trey Millard, FB Oklahoma - our CLASSIC injury pick............and future Pro-Bowl FB. NEVER makes it this far down if he doesn't tear his ACL. Blocked for Murray his freshman year.

SKEWER AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CBS has Mosley at #14. Will the Cowboys be picking that early.

I would have to consider these players at that pick or with a trade down:
David Yankey
Louis Nix
RaShede Hageman
Cyril Richardson

Overall, good draft. As you stated you're just using the CBS rankings, but in reality I don't see Gabe Jackson being available in the 4th.

I could see Martin being available in where you have him. He is a productive college player but appears to lack quickness.

Personally, I WANT NIX in Round 1!!!!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, I just don't see Jerry and Co. using common sense - the same common sense that told Carolina to pick Lotulelei in Round 1 to stuff the middle and COMMAND the double teams that free up Hardy, Johnson, and whomever they line up at the 3T. Great lines on both sides of the ball make the players they protect even better. Our secondary is sucking so bad right now because, JUST LIKE LAST YEAR, there is no pass rush to speak of.

As for Kareem Martin, I think he slides because he was only super productive this year.

No way in hell Kareem the dream Martin lasts until the fifth round. Probably 2nd round pick, makes big plays but disappears at times.

Wouldn't shock me at all. Like I stated in my mock, I based everything on where they have him ranked now.

Somewhat biased coming from a former Tarheel here. Did not mean to come off as attacking your post and there may be sites listing that as his likely round, but just my 2 cents.

No offense taken at all. You just posted a valid opinion.

I actually like Mosley a lot but no way we take a LB with our first pick. It'll be DT or DE in the the first and likely the 2nd as well. But, never say never with Jerry I suppose.

Very true. But, truth be told, both the DL and LB corp (minus Lee WHEN HEALTHY) have been HUGE dissappointments. Since the 1st Philly game, there has been NO PRESSURE generated by the Front 4................and TERRIBLE attempts at tackling by the LB's.

Could you imagine Lee and Mosely together? Mosely has what Carter has unfortunately shown he lacks - GREAT INSTINCTS like Sean Lee. In fact, one might argue that Mosely is Lee WITH Carter's athleticism.

The top 4 guys probably won't be there in the middle of the rounds you have them going which is probably where we will be picking.. somewhere between 14-20

Edit: I like the picks though.. Love Randy Gregory and Gabe Jackson especially but I just don't seem them getting there

Tony Pauline says the draft is light in first round talent on the d line but pretty deep rounds 2-4.

If Mosely falls to Dallas inthe first, Jerry better take him and go DT inthe 2nd round. Mosely is a tackling machine and a great high character player.

Would not be opposed best O Lineman available particularly if it is their highest graded prospect. 49ers turned it around when they went all in on the O Line. Right now the Cowboys have two nice pieces.
