I joined a gym today. 24-hour fitness in Valley Ranch. I speak with this guy over the phone and I make an appointment to see him on my lunch today. I get there an get the tour of the facility and talk Cowboys. He brought it up and we're both happy where the Boys are. So we go back to his desk to start the paperwork and he has a team photo of the 2000 Cowboys on his desk. While he's away, I started playing a game to see how many of those guys I could name. I laughed to myself as most of the guys are out of the league. He asks what i'm smiling about and I say it's funny that most of these guys are out of the league. I go on to say that this is when it started going all down hill. He disagreed and started laying blame at the coaches and Jerry Jones. I said man, there were some pretty bad players on those teams, evident by the fact that a majority of those guys never amounted to anything in the NFL. He reveals that he was on that team. I was working with Damon Hodge. I vaguely remember the name from back in the day but, not really. He said he played for Dallas, then Seattle, and then went to Canada. His explanation for why a lot of guys from that team didn't get another chance was because of politics. He said something to the effect that once you get a bad rep in Dallas, it's hard to catch on anywhere else. I wanted to say, it's not hard if you don't SUCK! He agreed that Jerry was a huge part of the problem and that Campo was a good coach but Jerry was too involved. Other than that, he said he has a huge amount of respect for the organization and he likes they way the guys are having fun playing. I think it pissed him off that I threw them under the bus. Well, they sucked, right? Just wanted to share this. I can't lie, it did get a bit uncomfortable for me. You never know who you're talking to.:starspin
