Looks like next year we get an OT in the first two rounds.
Nice write up !! Hope your wrong about SmithMy views so far:
1. Gathers in space with his elite hands are nightmare for Db. They want no parts of him...he is too big. However he gets caught up when someone gets hands on him early. As he learns to find soft spots he will be major threat in red-zone. Hard to say if he is long term starter but at very least he can be niche red-zone player.
2. Jaylon Smith is a striker. Even with him not totally trusting his left leg players go to ground quickly when he hits them. Violence at the ball hitter. I have gone back and forth if I think he can be starter with foot drop limiting him but comments from Terrance Williams get you excited.
3. Something tells me Byron Bell is starting LG for most of season. Cooper could start the season as starter but I am far from being convinced he keeps it.
4. Malik Collins is on verge of being top DT.
5. Byron Jones will lead team in turnovers. Playing fast with elite athleticism. I expect entire DB group to start slow this season but when they get cookin Jones will be all-pro consideration by end of season.
6. By mid-season Tyron Smith will be on the Tony Romo practice schedule. Even though he is 26 years old this will be his 7th NFL season. Bad backs rarely get better. Dallas will manage his back with reduced workload and even if he only plays 4 more years...thats a 10 year career playing at high level. Back might cut short hopes of HOF.
Also, loving what I'm hearing about Paea so far in camp ! People were rubbishing him coming hear earlier in the off-season, coming back to play for Marrinelli is a breath of fresh air for him.
Strong like bull - both him and Thornton should be much better in the middle this year. My pet cat.
(But I would still look at a DT in next years draft) Someone like DaRon Hand ....
Doing it again today. Maybe shagging baseballs has paid off for him.
I'm liking him and Collins together. Alot of man power there
At his size he can make a soft spotHe does need to learn to find the soft spots. Too often in the first game, he just ran his route even if it took him into coverage. That's OK to some extent because he might be running off a linebacker or safety. But after he did that, I didn't really notice an attempt to drift into an opening or take his route in a different direction. Granted, the cameras were not focused on him when the ball didn't go his way, so it's possible he was doing that and it just wasn't caught on film.

Like the thought for pass rush, but I wonder if they can hold up consistently against the run?
Collins is our RT. Most likely it will be an OG for the LG spot.
Jones is hard to figure out. One int on a hail mary at the end of the half in his entire career is kinda horrible, especially for a first rounder. We are middle of the pack in sacks, but way down on the list of pressures in the league.
It's easy to make the excuse that we didn't have enough pressure to help Jones, but then you have to look at why did the Raiders, Ravens, and Bucs have less pressures than us (depending on the site you like)......yet have wayyy more INTs.
It ain't just the front seven, the secondary sucked too....which is why most have been replaced, and Jones could be next.

Concerning Byron Jones.
Today, getting schooled by the Old Man.
Still too early for me to say that definitively. If this year is like the others I'll agree.
Keep in mind how comfortable QBs are against this defense. Comfortable QBs don't make many mistakes. The lack of turnovers falls on the front seven.
