My Issue Isn't with the Moves, It's the Timing

I do not necessarily take issue with the specific moves lately, but my major problem is that the timing of these moves indicates that there is basically no grander strategy being employed.

Why in the world are we lighting draft capital on fire when we have a historically bad defense that will need 5+ new starters to even be competitive next year?

Why was Micah Parsons not traded before the draft or even the previous season when we clearly had no intention of winning the next two years and had likely already decided we were probably not going to resign him?

Why did we not trade for a single impact player from 2021-2023 when this team had a real, concrete chance at winning the super bowl with just another great defensive player to put them over the top, but now we're throwing picks like they expire tomorrow to save a god forsakenly awful team this year?

The decision making is just completely manic, emotionally driven, and schizophrenic. Where is the vision for this team actually going? Absolutely nowhere in my opinion.

Williams is a long term move for a foundational player. You dont know if you are getting anyone you can build around with those picks. You know you are with Williams.

Quinnen Williams isnt a "Save The Season "(not quoting or paraphrasing you btw), but a move to really start building the defense

Can’t see how they keep Clark now with so much money at DT. Looking more and more like we traded Micah for Williams straight up. Especially if they trade down with the GB pick to get a 2nd and 3rd, which I think is highly likely.

Lets see, we get 2 Pro Bowl DTs and we keep GB 1st round Draft pick this year and have our 1st round this year, and have a 1st round next year, The Future is looking up for this team

This move will help us get a high teen draft pick this year, instead of a top 10 pick.

We can't afford to be happy

Clark will take a friendly deal or walk. He's getting up there in age. The defense still needs 3 linebackers, a legitimate pass rusher, and an entire secondary. These two moves are a start, but this defense is at least 3-4 years away from being decent.

The timing is part of the plan. These trades are simply to give hope to the fans during a failed season.
Marketing ploy for Jerah. He does not want his ratings to drop so he can still have a lot of Thursday, Sunday and Monday night games.

Sigh. Why must people look at life thru the lens of Cameron Frye?

It takes 2 to tango. These are solid moves today.

listen to Jerry. he likes to stir things up. he likes the drama, so thus the parson's drama. he really didn't think parsons would take it personally and at the end he realized the relationship is broken. so he got what he could.

he also thought I throw bodies at the problem, like murray and sanborn and elam and they all sucked. so now he has to make moves, knowing, we are going into the gauntlet and he is going to lose fans.

This trade was in hope we don't get blown out 50-20 5 weeks in a row.

Well we know we need playmakers on defense and you can’t get one in free agency. It was an opportunity to get a Gardner or a Williams who typically wouldn’t be available. I wanted them to stand pat but a player the caliber of Quinnen will make you change that stance.

IMO would guess Jets had a way higher price on Williams earlier this year, when discussing a potential Parsons deal.

Now that their season went down in flames, I think they loosened the prices to restart a rebuild.
Logan Wilson recently requested a trade, and well a 7th is a throw away pick.

I get the OP, but also you need the other team willing to agree to the price.

If the defense is 3-4 years away it makes the Williams trade completely pointless.
